Rangers try to close out Flyers at home
Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Rangers

(Best-of-7 series tied, 3-3)

Big story: Not much needs to be said when it's a seventh game.

"Two good teams that are battling hard," New York Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. "We have home ice, so we'll go home and get ready."

The Philadelphia Flyers will attempt to bring the momentum they gained from their 5-2 victory in Game 6 on the train north with them.

"We need to come out and we need to be an aggressive hockey team [Wednesday," Flyers coach Craig Berube said. "Play with a lot of passion and energy. You want to move on? You've got to give everything you've got. ... We can't have anybody not giving everything they've got every shift [Wednesday]."

Team Scope:

Flyers: A major reason for the Flyers' success in the postseason has been their penalty-killing. Philadelphia has killed off 20 consecutive Rangers power plays, dating to Game 2 of the series.

In Game 6 they blanked the Rangers on five chances and limited them to four shots with the extra man.

"They've done a real good job," Berube said of his penalty-killers. "They've got good sticks. they know their routes. It's very important against their power play because they have a lot of skill out there and they make a lot of seam passes. It's important to have good routes, have good sticks. Your goalie has to be big and you have to be willing to block shots. They've done a good job with that. All of them."

Rangers: While Vigneault and his players were disappointed not to have closed out the series, they are looking forward to Game 7.

"We're in a great position on home ice to win a series and this is over with," center Brad Richards said.

Having the game at Madison Square Garden also serves as an advantage. The Rangers have won nine of their past 10 against the Flyers at MSG and are 5-0 all-time in Game 7s at home.

"I've been part of it here with the Rangers," Richards said. "There's no better game to be a part of. You always want to close a series out, but when you're on home ice with your fans in a must-win game, those are great days to be part of. We're going to embrace it."

Who's hot: Wayne Simmonds' three-goal performance in Game 6 was the first playoff hat trick by a Flyer since Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier in Game 2 of first round of the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs. ... Rangers forward Carl Hagelin had a goal and a game-high seven shots on goal in Game 6.

Injury report: Flyers forward Steve Downie (upper body) and defenseman Nicklas Grossmann (lower body) are out. ... Rangers forward Chris Kreider (hand) hasn't played in the series.
