Emery in spotlight as Flyers visit Rangers in Game 1
Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Rangers

FLYERS (42-30-10) at RANGERS (45-31-6)

Last 10: Philadelphia 4-3-3; New York 6-2-2

Season series: The Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers split their four regular-season games, with each team winning twice at home.

Big story: The Flyers will go into the series without their starting goaltender. Steve Mason is out for at least Game 1 with an upper-body injury, shifting Ray Emery into the No. 1 role. However, Flyers coach Craig Berube doesn't believe his team will give anything other than its best effort.

"It's not disappointing," he said. "It's part of the game sometimes. Things happen. We have other people. We're a team. We've been a team all year. That doesn't change.

"Good teams find ways to get it done."

Team Scope:

Flyers: It's been more than three years since the Flyers last won at Madison Square Garden -- Feb. 20, 2011, to be exact.

However, that drought doesn't faze anyone in the Philadelphia locker room.

"I don't think we have to pay attention to that," veteran forward Vincent Lecavalier said. "That's in the past. We're focused on Game 1. … We're going in there to win and it doesn't matter what happened the last three years or whatever. It's a series. We'll take it one game at a time."

Rangers: The Rangers will go into the postseason at as close to 100 percent as possible. Forward Derick Brassard, who left practice early with some back pain, told reporters Wednesday that he is "100 percent."

"I felt good [Wednesday]," he said. "I could've skated for the whole practice [Tuesday]. It was just for precautions."

In addition, defenseman Ryan McDonagh reported he has full range of motion in his shoulder. He missed the final five games of the regular season with a shoulder injury.

Who's hot: Flyers captain Claude Giroux had points in his final four regular-season games, totaling three goals and four assists to give him 86 points, third-most in the NHL. … Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist allowed two goals on 52 shots in his final two regular-season starts.

Injury report: In addition to Mason, Flyers forward Steve Downie (upper body) is out. … Rangers forward Chris Kreider (hand) is out.
