Briere, Canadiens set to visit Flyers
Montréal Canadiens vs. Philadelphia Flyers

CANADIENS (19-10-3) at FLYERS (13-15-3)

Last 10: Montreal 8-1-1; Philadelphia 4-5-1

Season series: The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 on Oct. 5, the second game of 2013-14 for each. The Montreal line of Lars Eller, Brendan Gallagher and Alex Galchenyuk had two goals and four assists.

"We're playing against a totally different team than at the start of the season," Canadiens forward Daniel Briere said. "It won't be an easy game, especially at their rink in front of their fans."

Big story: Briere will be playing in Philadelphia for the first time since being bought out this summer following six seasons with the Flyers.

"I'm expecting both the best and the worst from the fans," Briere told the Canadiens website Wednesday. "I've been treated in different ways by the crowd during my career, so I'm ready for pretty much anything. I'll have a chance to play in front of my kids and a few good friends, so it'll be easy to find the motivation to do well."

Team Scope:

Canadiens: Montreal will try to move on from a 6-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday that ended a 9-0-1 streak.

"For us, you know what is important, we address it with the players shortly on the ice [and] we're moving on," coach Michel Therrien said. "We want to make sure that it won't happen again. We did a lot of good things, and the most important game is tomorrow."

The Canadiens were fifth in the Atlantic Division, seventh in the Eastern Conference, when the 10-game run started. They are now second in the Atlantic, third in the East.

"At the end of the day, you have to look at the couple of weeks that we've had and focus on what's still ahead," forward Brian Gionta said. "If we can come out and win the next three games this week, the loss would just go unnoticed. It's just about not letting things snowball and getting back on track as soon as possible."

Montreal plays the New York Islanders on Saturday and the Florida Panthers on Sunday.

Flyers: Philadelphia lost four of five to finish a six-game, 12-day road trip that ended with a 7-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.

"We get home, and we've got Montreal at home waiting," coach Craig Berube said. "We have to be ready to go. I mean, we have to play 60 minutes. Can't take shifts off, or make mistakes, critical mistakes; it's going to cost you."

The Blackhawks scored five goals on 10 shots in the second period against Ray Emery, who was pulled 1:05 into the third period, forcing Steve Mason into action.

"We didn't want to leave [Ray] in there any longer after that [sixth goal]," Berube said. "We just wanted to get him out of there. ... When they made it 6-2, I didn't want to leave him in there anymore."

Who's hot: Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin is second on the team with 43 hits, all in 12 games since returning from knee surgery Nov. 16. Forward Max Pacioretty has nine goals in his past 11 games. … Flyers forward Jakub Voracek has a goal in back-to-back games after going 12 games without one. Defenseman Kimmo Timonen has four points in his past four games.

Injury report: Canadiens forward Rene Bourque (upper body) skated before practice Wednesday, but will not be with the team on its two-game road trip. Monday is the target for Bourque's return, Therrien said. Defenseman Davis Drewiske (shoulder) is out. … Flyers center Vincent Lecavalier (back) is on injured reserve.
