1. LATELY…

The Flyers come into today's game having won four of their last six games, posting four goals or more in each of the wins… The Flyers had just their fourth two-day break in between games since the season started on Jan. 19… Today is the final game of their five-game homestand in which they are 2-2-0, and overall are 6-3-1 on home ice… The Senators come in undefeated in regulation play in their last six games, earning five victories in that span… Also during that stretch, the Sens have had four of the six games decided in either overtime or a shootout.

2. AGAINST THE SENS
This is the first of three meetings against Ottawa and first of two meetings at home against the Senators…  Last season, the Flyers went 2-1-1 against the Sens, including 1-0-1 at the Wells Fargo Center with both games going past regulation play… Danny Briere had six points (3g-3a) in the four-game season series, while Daniel Alfredsson had five points (2g-3A) in four games against the Flyers… Overall, the Flyers are 35-28-8-4 in 75 all-time games against Ottawa.

3. THIS & THAT
The Flyers own an 0-4-0 record against teams from the Northeast Division, while the Senators have a 3-1-1 record in the Atlantic Division… Flyers (D) Nicklas Grossmann leads the NHL in blocked shots (61)… As a team, the Flyers are second in the league in both hits (597) and blocks (342) headed into today’s game… Daniel Alfredsson is the longest serving captain in the NHL, with 2012-13 marking his 13th consecutive season as Ottawa’s captain.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Claude Giroux - C #28
The Flyers captain currently has a six-game point streak where he has recorded four goals and six assists for 10 points… During that streak he has recorded multiple points in five of the six contests and an assist in each game… Giroux is now averaging a point-per-game pace with 22 points (7g-15a) in 22 games… Against the Sens, Giroux has 10 points (2g-8a) in 15 career games… Giroux also made his NHL debut against the Senators on Feb. 19, 2008.

5. Player to watch SENATORS:  Ben Bishop - (G) #30
Bishop currently owns a 4-2-0 record after filling in for the injured Craig Anderson… He has posted a 4-2-0 record with a 2.17 goals-against average and .935 save percentage, which ranks third in the NHL… Bishop was recognized as the NHL's Third Star of the Week on Feb. 25 after earning a record of 3-0-0 with a 2.03 GAA and .931 save percentage dating to Feb. 18… Today will be his first career start against the Flyers.

QUOTABLE
"It took a couple games to be comfortable and up to speed with [Giroux and Voracek]. They were hitting the blue line four or five strides before I got there. I was right there with them if not ahead a couple times… I felt pretty good.”
- Scott Hartnell

Last 10: Ottawa 6-3-1; Philadelphia 5-5-0

Season series: This is the first of three games between the teams this season. The teams split four games last season.

Big story: Can the Senators continue their remarkable run? They're 5-1-1 since their best player, defenseman Erik Karlsson, was lost for the season with an Achilles' tendon tear.

Team Scope:

Senators: While the Senators certainly miss goalie Craig Anderson, they've won two of the three games he's sat out with an ankle injury. Ben Bishop has won twice, allowing just three goals, and Robin Lehner made 44 saves in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Boston Bruins on Thursday.

However, the Senators could have a nice problem as Anderson continues to recover. He skated Friday and reported good progress in his recovery.

"Every day seems to be getting a lot better," Anderson told the team's website. "I can skate, I can stop, I can push, I can do a lot of things that a forward can do. I haven't taken the step yet to see what a goalie can do. I think that's going to be the next step -- see how it is [Saturday] and see if I can get into the butterfly at all."

Flyers: After a hectic February that saw them play 15 games in 27 days, the Flyers enter March knowing they'll have a few chances to catch their breath this month.

The Flyers have played 22 games already this season, tied with the Toronto Maple Leafs for the most in the League. While that number will advance more slowly in March -- they play 13 games spread over 30 days -- it gave teams they're fighting for playoff spots with games in hand.

"We had some things [in February] that we were dealing with that we didn't do a good job of overcoming or we needed to do better and we didn't," coach Peter Laviolette said. "The month of March now presents itself with [13] games in 30 days. I think it's seven at home and five on the road. This is an opportunity for us to have a good month, a big month."

Who's hot: Flyers captain Claude Giroux has four goals and eight assists in his six-game point-scoring streak.

Injury report: Karlsson and Anderson are among the prominent names on a long injury list for the Senators. Forwards Jason Spezza (back), Guillaume Latendresse (whiplash), Peter Regin (upper body) and Milan Michalek (knee) are out, and defenseman Mike Lundin (flue) is questionable. … Out for the Flyers are forwards Tye McGinn (broken orbital), Jody Shelley (hip) and Matt Read (torn rib-cage muscles), and defenseman Andrej Meszaros (shoulder).
