Flyers-Lightning Preview
Philadelphia Flyers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

FIVE THINGS: FLYERS-LIGHTNING

1. RIDING HOT-STREAKS
Both the Lightning and Flyers come into tonight’s game riding hot streaks. The Lightning have won three of their last four games and all three wins have been decided by one goal … The Flyers have also won three of their last four games and in those three wins they have scored 17 total goals.

2. POINTS LIKE JAGR
Jaromir Jagr comes into tonight’s game with a seven-game point streak during which he has six goals and five assists for 11 points. He also has 22 shots on net and a plus-7 rating.

3. HOME COOKING / ROAD WARRIORS
The Lightning currently have a four-game home winning streak and have given up just a single goal or less in three of their past four home games … The Flyers on the other hand are 4-1-0 on the road this season and in their four wins have out-scored the opponent 15-5.

4. Player to watch out for FLYERS: James van Riemsdyk
JVR has put up monster numbers recently …  He has five points (2G-3A) in his last two games played and in his last four contests has averaged two points-per-game, posting four goals and four assists… Against the Lightning, van Riemsdyk averages over a point-per-game, recording nine points (2G-7A) in eight career games.

5. Player to watch out for LIGHTNING: Steven Stamkos
The Lightning sniper leads the team in goals and ranks second overall in the NHL (10) … He has four goals and five points in his last two games and has posted at least a point in eight of his last nine games for Tampa Bay … He has eight goals and 12 points in 12 career games against the Flyers.

GAME PREVIEW

The Philadelphia Flyers have been getting goals from a number of players.

The possible return of captain Chris Pronger could make them even more dangerous.

Philadelphia looks to continue its best road start in 18 years Wednesday night when it faces the Tampa Bay Lightning, who are going for their first five-game home winning streak since 2007-08.

With eight players scoring in Saturday's 9-2 victory over Columbus - the team's highest-scoring game since a 9-5 win over Montreal on Feb. 6, 1997 - six Flyers have at least five goals and the club leads the NHL with 56.

"A lot of guys are stepping up," center Danny Briere told the Flyers' official website. "(Jaromir) Jagr has helped out a lot (with six goals) ... even young guys like Sean Couturier who has five (goals), that's very impressive. It's good that everybody has more responsibility in that department and it's definitely good to see."

So is seeing Pronger complete two straight practices. The veteran defenseman, who has missed the last six games after taking a stick to the eye against Toronto on Oct. 24, will likely be a game-day decision and will be wearing a visor when he returns.

"(My conditioning) has been a little suspect after the last couple days," Pronger told the league's official website Tuesday before the team left for Florida. "Again, you don't realize how quickly you can lose it when you've done nothing for seven days, you're bedridden for four of them - the joints need to be moving."

While the Flyers (8-4-2) have killed all 13 penalties during their 3-0-1 stretch, they could use Pronger on the power play after going 1 for 19 in the last four games.

Philadelphia, 1 for 15 on the power play while losing three of four to Tampa Bay last season, opens its three-game trip with a 4-1-0 road record.

It's the Flyers' best start away from home since opening 6-1-0 in 1993-94.

Continuing that run could be a challenge as the Lightning (7-5-2) have won six of eight overall and outscored their opponents 13-5 during their home winning streak.

Tampa Bay last won five in a row on home ice Oct. 4-25, 2007.

The Lightning will try to match that run after avoiding a third straight road loss with Sunday's 4-3 shootout victory over Florida. They trailed by three 15:21 into the game.

"We had our backs against the wall," center Dominic Moore said after scoring the only goal in the tiebreaker. "Hopefully that's a lesson for us."

Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos played well against the Flyers last season, with St. Louis recording 10 assists - including a career-high five in an 8-7 win at Philadelphia on Nov. 18 - and Stamkos adding a team-best five goals and six points.

Dwayne Roloson, 1-0-1 with a 1.44 goals-against average in two starts versus the Flyers in 2010-11 after being acquired from the New York Islanders, could be in net Wednesday after stopping all 29 shots he faced Sunday as Mathieu Garon's replacement.

If Ilya Bryzgalov gets a chance to win his fourth consecutive start, it will be the first time he faces Tampa Bay in a Flyers uniform. He went 2-1-0 with a 2.00 GAA in three starts against the Lightning while with Phoenix.

Jagr, who has six goals and five assists during a seven-game point streak, has a record 69 points (31 goals, 38 assists) against Tampa Bay.
