Flyers try to even series at home
Boston Bruins vs. Philadelphia Flyers
BRUINS at FLYERS

(Bruins lead best-of-seven series 1-0)

TV: VERSUS (HD), TSN (HD), RDS (HD)

Big story
: The Bruins got two goals each from David Krejci and Brad Marchand to rout the Flyers 7-3 in Game 1. They also kept the Flyers' goalie carousel spinning, chasing starter Brian Boucher in the second period after scoring five times against him, and then adding two more in the third against rookie backup Sergei Bobrovsky.
Team Scope:

Bruins: Much was made of the Flyers' offensive depth, but in Game 1, Boston got goals from three of its four lines. The top line of David Krejci, Nathan Horton and Milan Lucic scored three times; the second line of Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and Mark Recchi had three goals; and fourth-line center Gregory Campbell also had a goal.

"We always thought before the series started that we have some depth," said coach Claude Julien. "Our organization did a really nice job of getting some before the trade deadline, getting (Tomas) Kaberle and (Chris) Kelly and (Rich) Peverley.

Those things have really helped us out and given us some depth. That depth helped us in the last round when Krejci's line was checked closely and they weren't able to capitalize like they want to, so other lines stepped up. I feel good about our depth and even the Campbell line gives us that energy still. When (Campbell) had an opportunity to score, he did. Nice to see it coming from all over."

GM Peter Chiarelli told NHL.com he believes positive contributions from the Campbell line, which includes Shawn Thornton and Daniel Paille, will be important as the series wears on.

"You get into seven-game series it's a war of attrition," he said. "While Claude has shown a propensity to shorten the bench when he's had to in Montreal, he has the tools to roll the lines. When you're in a prolonged series, it makes a difference at the end of the day."

Flyers: Ed Snider founded the Flyers in 1967 and still runs the team more than 40 years later. He's a hands-on owner, and that was evident Sunday, when he greeted each player at the team's practice facility in Voorhees, N.J.

"It's pretty cool," center Danny Briere said. "That's why he is considered one of the best owners in any team sport. He is very passionate. He loves his team, loves his players. It's pretty cool to see him."

Claude Giroux said seeing Snider around the team can be a motivating factor heading into Game 2.

"Anytime you see someone important like that, that cares so much, it obviously helps your motivation," he said. "You want to play for a guy like that."

Who's hot: Bruins center David Krejci has enjoyed playing against the Flyers this season. Not only did he have 2 goals and 2 assists in Game 1, he had 4 points in four games against them in the regular season. … Flyers captain Mike Richards had his first postseason goal in Game 1. That follows a trend of him playing well in the playoffs against the Bruins. His 3 goals and 9 points in last year's conference semifinal against the Bruins were the most he had in any series.

Injury report: The Bruins are fielding a healthy group of regulars. … Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger did not play the final five minutes of Game 1 and refused to discuss the condition of his right hand, which sidelined him from March 8 until Game 6 of the first round against the Sabres. He's expected to play in Game 2. Forwards Jeff Carter (lower-body injury) and Andreas Nodl (upper-body injury) continue to be listed as day to day.

Stat pack: Of the 10 players who registered at least a point for the Bruins in Game 1, six did not play in the decisive Game 7 of last year's series against the Flyers.

Puck drop: Chiarelli told NHL.com that rather than hide from last year's historic loss to the Flyers, he's made that disappointment a season-long theme.

"Being in Boston all year, that's all we hear about anytime there's a slide," he said. "So we can't avoid it and certainly haven't tried to avoid it. Having some players who weren't there last year, intentionally or unintentionally, it helps reinvigorate the group."

He said it started during training camp, when getting past what happened was one of the themes of a team-building retreat in Vermont. And that's just carried on throughout the season to this point. It's what's made facing the Flyers again more of a fun challenge than one they dreaded.

"We have to slay the dragon, so to speak," he said.
