PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Known for frustrating opponents with his defensive play, Brad Lukowich got a rare contribution on offense.

Jason Blake scored three times and Lukowich had the go-ahead goal 4:43 into the third period, leading the New York Islanders to a 4-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.

Lukowich put in his own rebound after a centering pass from Mark Parrish during a delayed penalty to give New York a 3-2 lead. It was the first goal this season for the veteran defenseman.

"Parrish made the play happen," said Lukowich, a member of Tampa Bay's Stanley Cup championship team in 2003-04. "I saw a penalty was coming up so I jumped across, was in the right place at the right time and just whacked at it."

Garth Snow stopped 34 shots for the Islanders, who snapped a two-game skid.

R.J. Umberger scored both goals for Philadelphia, which played without leading scorer Peter Forsberg, sidelined with a groin injury. The Flyers have lost five of seven, including two overtime losses, after winning six in a row. They've lost four straight at home after winning nine consecutive games in their building.

"We had a couple chances and Snow made some great saves," Flyers forward Simon Gagne said. "That's how it has been the last few games. We make a mistake or a turnover and it ends up in our net."

The Islanders twice had opportunities to take a two-goal lead after Lukowich scored, but Mike York hit the left post on a slap shot midway through the third and Alexei Zhitnik hit the right post late in the period.

Blake added an empty-net goal in the final minute for his 11th goal this season.

"Any time you win on the road against a top team, it helps your confidence," Snow said.

The Flyers went ahead 2-1 on Umberger's second goal of the game late in the first. His shot from outside the right circle trickled past Snow, hit the post and went in.

But Blake tied it at 2 on a power-play goal in the second. Blake was flat on his stomach with Flyers defenseman Chris Therien hovering above him when he poked a shot past goaltender Antero Niittymaki.

"I got flattened by (Therien) going to the net," Blake said. "I had no clue. I looked up and the puck was right there. I got a piece of it. I don't even know where it went."

The Islanders took a 1-0 lead on Blake's goal just 31 seconds in. Niittymaki stopped Arron Asham's wraparound shot, but Blake wristed in the rebound.

Umberger tied it at 1 just 68 seconds later. He came around the back of the net and took a shot that deflected in after hitting Parrish's stick.

"I saw Jeff (Carter) was in front and it hit their stick and went in. It was just a lucky bounce," Umberger said.

Notes: The Flyers are 2-1 against the Islanders this season. The teams meet in Uniondale, N.Y., on Tuesday night. ...
