PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ The Dallas Stars are going to need road performances like this to get home-ice advantage in the playoffs.

Brenden Morrow's goal with 35 seconds left in regulation lifted the Stars into a 2-2 tie with the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night.

Rob DiMaio also scored for Dallas, 8-1-2 in its last 11 games. The Stars are three points behind Vancouver for fourth place in the Western Conference.

``We need to start winning on the road,'' Morrow said. ``We've been a really good team at home, but we are (five) games under .500 on the road. So we need more of an effort. To get that extra point tonight was really big for us.''

Marcus Ragnarsson and Tony Amonte scored for Philadelphia, which moved within two points of Tampa Bay for first place in the East.

Valeri Bure, playing his first game with the Stars, took a slap shot from the point that hit Morrow and slid past Flyers goaltender Robert Esche to make it 2-2 after Dallas had several chances to tie it seconds earlier during a power play.

``It was tipped on the way to the net, and the rebound hit me in the chest and dropped right at my feet,'' Morrow said. ``Esche was on his toes looking for where the puck went and I just slid it through his legs.''

Esche had 37 saves, including a one-handed stab on a shot by Jere Lehtinen late in overtime.

``Esche was great,'' Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock said. ``He's playing well right now.''

The Flyers went ahead early in the third period when Ragnarsson one-timed a pass from Amonte past Marty Turco for his fifth goal.

The Stars tied it at 1 on DiMaio's 100th career goal early in the second period. A shot by Pierre Turgeon went through Flyers defenseman Joni Pitkanen's legs, hit DiMaio's skate and went past Esche.

``This time of year, a lot of goals aren't pretty,'' DiMaio said.

But Dallas couldn't capitalize on a four-minute power play it received later in the second period when Donald Brashear was called for a double-minor for high-sticking Teppo Numminen. Brashear didn't hit Numminen, who was knocked down by teammate Richard Matvichuk.

Amonte's power-play goal gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead in the first period. Amonte took a give-and-go pass from Alexei Zhamnov, and lifted his own rebound under Turco's arm.

Zhamnov has 12 points in 10 games with the Flyers since he was acquired from Chicago last month to help fill the void at center created by injuries to All-Stars Jeremy Roenick and Keith Primeau.

``Any time you have a lead in the last five minutes, you have to hold on,'' Amonte said.
