FLYERS (13-12-1) at CANADIENS (13-14-2)

Last 10: Philadelphia 3-7-0; Montreal 4-4-2

Season Series: This is the first of four meetings between the teams this season. They last met on Feb. 27, when Mathieu Schneider scored 3:21 into overtime to lift the Canadiens to a 4-3 victory at the Wachovia Center.

Big Story: It's Game 2 of the Peter Laviolette era in Philadelphia, and the hope in the City of Brotherly Love is that it goes much better than the opener. The Flyers dropped an 8-2 decision on home ice on Saturday against the Washington Capitals.

Team Scope:

Flyers: Philadelphia enters Monday's action without the services of Daniel Carcillo, who received a four-game suspension on Sunday after the enforcer drilled Washington's Matt Bradley in the face before he had a chance to drop his gloves. Carcillo's actions gave the Caps a 9-minute power play, which they capitalized three times on.

"I saw him drop his gloves, so I started punching," said Carcillo, who spoke with Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren after the game. "It was pretty quick, and emotions took over. I'm not happy about it. I thought we were in a fight. I don't know why he waited so long to drop his gloves. Once you see that, you're in a fight, and you start punching."

Canadiens: Mike Cammalleri helped the Habs respond from a 6-2 loss against Buffalo by notching a hat trick during the second period of Friday's 5-1 win against the Boston Bruins at the Bell Centre. It was the perfect way for the Canadiens to celebrate their 100th anniversary.

"We were all pretty inspired being able to see all the previous players who have won championships here," said Montreal goalie Carey Price, who made 37 saves. "We all had them behind us."

Who's Hot:
Scott Hartnell scored for the Flyers on Saturday, his ninth goal of the season. … Cammalleri's hat trick against the Bruins gave him a team-high 15 goals. Brian Gionta is second with eight.

Injury Report: Flyers forward Simon Gagne is expected to miss another two weeks as he recovers from hernia surgery. Blair Betts (shoulder) and Darroll Powe (hand/wrist) are also out for two weeks. … Gionta is out indefinitely for the Canadiens with a foot injury, while defenseman Andrei Markov (leg) hopes to return next month. Benoit Pouliot (wrist) is day-to-day.

Stat Pack:
The Flyers' six-goal loss to the Capitals marked the second-largest margin of defeat for an NHL coach making his replacement debut. The record is seven goals and the last time it occurred was when Ted Green and his Edmonton Oilers lost 9-2 to the Calgary Flames on Oct. 4, 1991.

Puck Drop:
Laviolette had little time to prepare Philadelphia for Saturday's game, and Monday is no different. As many of the players have said over the past few days, it's on them now to right the ship.
