Flyers-Maple Leafs Preview

GAME: Philadelphia Flyers (3-2-0) at Toronto Maple Leafs (4-1-2).

TIME: Saturday, 7 p.m. EDT.

Defensemen Bryan McCabe and Tomas Kaberle look to continue their success on the power play as the Toronto Maple Leafs search for a fifth consecutive win when they host the Philadelphia Flyers.

McCabe leads the team with nine assists and 11 points, while Kaberle has contributed seven assists. The duo has played well on the power play, combining for two goals and 14 assists as Toronto has taken full advantage of the league's crackdown on obstruction.

The Leafs enter this game with 11 power-play goals during their current winning streak.

"Our guys have been pretty hot with those shots," Toronto coach Pat Quinn said. "Most teams are dropping off the points to cover down low so we're getting - and other teams are getting - better point opportunities to score goals."

Ken Klee, another defenseman, scored a power-play goal with 15.8 seconds left in overtime to give the Leafs a 5-4 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday.

"We're on the ladies' tee there," said Klee, who has gotten two of his three points on the power play. "We were just looking to pound it."

The Flyers have won back-to-back games but have been idle since a 5-1 victory over the New York Islanders last Saturday. Michal Handzus scored a pair of first-period goals for Philadelphia, which had 46 shots on goal and dominated the entire game.

Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock has opted to use all three of his regular lines on the power play because of the multiple chances created by the league's new rules.

"When you have as many penalties as what's going on right now, it is really hard to keep a rhythm on power play," he said. "It's hard to keep energy and that's why we use three units. If we're going to get seven or eight or nine power plays, it's hard to keep that energy. Players get tired."

Flyers center Simon Gagne has scored a goal in a career-high five straight games.
