BILL BARBER1981-82 to 1982-83
Bill Barber entered the National Hockey League in 1972-73, scoring 30 goals and 64 points for a Philadelphia Flyers team that was on the brink of winning the Stanley Cup.
A seven-time NHL All-Star, Barber scored at least 20 goals in each of his 12 seasons with the Orange and Black, highlighted by one 50-goal season in 1975-76 while also scoring a career-high 112 points.
A member of the famous LCB line with Reggie Leach and Bobby Clarke, Barber helped guide Philly to its only Stanley Cup titles in 1974 and 1975, while appearing in two more Stanley Cup Finals in 1976 and 1980.
Barber’s legacy with the Flyers went far beyond his playing days, spending a number of years as a team scout, assistant coach and eventually becoming head coach, winning the NHL’s Jack Adams Award as Coach of the Year in 2000-01.
He ranks second all-time in Flyers’ history in career points (883), games played (903) and is the Flyers’ all-time leader in goals with 420. A member of both the Flyers’ and Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Barber is one of only four Flyers to have his number retired.
