A 5'9'', 170-pound gritty forward, Lou Angotti was selected by Philadelphia in the sixth round of the National Hockey League Expansion Draft for his tenacious play.
Angotti, who came over to the club from the Chicago Blackhawks, already had three years of experience in the NHL and right off the bat was quickly tapped to lead the Orange & Black in their inaugural season.
And lead he certainly did.
Not only a strong presence in the locker room, Angotti also led the team in scoring with 49 points and 37 assists.
In his first and only season as a Flyer, Angotti helped define a winning standard in the Flyers organization by leading them to their first division championship and Stanley Cup Playoff berth.
"He wouldn't say a lot, but when he had something to say, it made a lot of sense, and that's what a captain's position is supposed to be."
