Don Luce
Director of Player Development

Don Luce is in charge of overseeing the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, and the development of the Flyers’ draft picks. He is also in charge of the Flyers’ summer conditioning camp and the team’s Rookie Camp, prior to Training Camp.

A native of London, Ontario, Luce most recently served as the Buffalo Sabres’ director of player development. In this role, he oversaw the Sabres’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Rochester Americans, and all other drafted players who were Sabres property, including those playing in the Canadian Hockey League, NCAA and Europe. Luce had served in a variety of roles for the Sabres since joining their front office in 1984, including special assignments, assistant coach, North American scout, director of player development and director of player personnel.

Luce played parts of 13 seasons in the NHL with the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres, Los Angeles Kings and Toronto Maple Leafs (1969-70 through 1981-82), recording 225 goals and 329 assists for 554 points and 364 penalty minutes in 894 regular season games. He won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy as “the National Hockey League player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey” for the 1974-75 season. Over parts of 10 seasons with the Sabres 1971-72 to 1980-81), Luce registered 216 goals and 310 assists for 526 points and 304 penalty minutes in 766 regular season games. He was inducted into the Buffalo Sabres Hall of Fame in 1986.
