Shawn Tilger
Senior Vice President, Business Operations

Shawn Tilger enters his eighth season with the Flyers and fourth as Senior Vice President of Business Operations. Tilger is responsible for the day-to-day management of all facets of the organization’s business operations, overseeing marketing, broadcasting, communications, finance, budgeting, community relations, fan development, ticket sales, game presentation, customer service, new media, publicity and merchandising functions. His responsibilities also include generating new revenue streams and leveraging partnerships for the Flyers and their parent company, Comcast-Spectacor.

During his tenure with the Flyers, Tilger has been instrumental in creating an incomparable relationship between the city of Philadelphia and the team, which was recognized industry-wide in 2005 when The Sporting News named the city of Philadelphia the No. 1 hockey town in the United States.

The Flyers have enjoyed tremendous growth on the business side of the organization and have been consistently ranked among the NHL’s leaders in sales, marketing, public relations and community efforts. The team has set numerous franchise attendance records several times over and ranked first in paid ticket sales among U.S.-based NHL teams in 2009-10. The Flyers have also embarked on many new customer-oriented initiatives, including stored value ticketing, a secondary ticket marketplace, unique ways to gather feedback from season ticket holders, and other popular features. The team’s community outreach programs, including the Flyers School Assembly Program and Hooked on Hockey clinics, have reached hundreds of thousands of children. The public relations department has been a finalist for the Professional Hockey Writer’s Association’s Dick Dillman Award for three consecutive seasons, and the team’s website, philadelphiaflyers.com, welcomed over eight million unique visitors a month during the 2010-11 season and ranked among the NHL’s top teams in web traffic. In 2006, the Flyers received the University of Massachusetts’ prestigious PRISM AWARD, recognizing the Flyers’ excellence in sport franchise management and their continued dedication to growing the sport of hockey in the Greater Philadelphia Region.

Tilger was a 2010 recipient of the Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal Forty under 40 Award, given each year to 40 of the top sports executives under the age of 40. The publication also previously recognized him as one of its “Five People to Know in Ticketing.”

Tilger has more than 14 years of marketing experience. He previously served as Vice President of Marketing and Director of Marketing for Comcast-Spectacor, overseeing marketing, public relations and sales of family events and concerts at the Wells Fargo Center and the Spectrum. Prior to joining Comcast-Spectacor, Tilger was the regional marketing manager for the Harlem Globetrotters, where he promoted the team’s appearances in 38 different markets throughout the United States.

A native of Beverly, New Jersey, Tilger received an M.A. in Sports Management from Springfield College and a B.A. in Government and Law from Lafayette College. Tilger, his wife, Erika, daughter, Ava, and son, Gavyn, reside in Moorestown, New Jersey.
