The Philadelphia Flyers have signed 6-0, 199-lb unrestricted free agent right wing Andrew Gordon to a one-year, two-way contract, according to general manager Ron Hextall.

Gordon, 28 (12/13/1985), spent the 2013-14 season in the Winnipeg Jets organization playing for the team’s American Hockey League affiliate in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He recorded 23 goals and 34 assists for 57 points to finish second in regular season scoring on the IceCaps. Gordon then went on to lead the IceCaps in scoring during the Calder Cup Playoffs, posting eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 21 games to help lead the club to a berth in the Calder Cup Finals.

Gordon was drafted by Washington in the seventh round (197th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and went on to become an offensive powerhouse for the Hershey Bears, Washington’s AHL affiliate, where he played four seasons from 2007-11. He recorded 16 goals and 35 assists for 51 points in 58 games during his rookie season of 2007-08, and then was an integral part of consecutive Calder Cup championships for the Bears in 2009 and 2010. He had a career year during the 2009-10 season, registering 37 goals and 34 assists for 71 points in 79 games to earn AHL All-Star honors, something he also received in 2011. He appeared in 12 games for the Capitals over his final three seasons with the organization.

Gordon signed as a free agent with Anaheim prior to the 2011-12 season and appeared in 37 games for the Ducks that year, which represents the largest portion of his 55 career NHL games. He also spent time with Anaheim’s AHL affiliate in Syracuse before being traded to Vancouver on February 27, 2012, after which he spent 1 ½ seasons with Vancouver’s AHL affiliate in Chicago while also appearing in six games for the Canucks. He signed as a free agent with Winnipeg on July 5, 2013.

Along with his three goals and four assists for seven points in 55 NHL games, Gordon has recorded 149 goals and 175 assists for 324 points in 426 career AHL games while gathering 279 PIM.
