Couturier rehabbing from surgery
Flyers announced that Sean Couturier had successful surgery last Friday.

Flyers general manager Ron Hextall gave a brief injury update today on forward Sean Couturier.

Sean Couturier had successful abdominal surgery this past Friday. He has started rehab at our training facility and should be fully recovered in 5-6 weeks.”

At the end of season media availability, Flyers GM and now President, Paul Holmgren stated that Couturier might need surgery for a possible stomach muscle sports hernia.

"I think there was a point in January where he was checked," said Holmgren on May 2. "But it was never at the point where we had to do anything other than maintenance."

Couturier continued to improve in the statistic department over the course of his third season in the NHL. He posted career-highs in assists (26) and points (39), while tying his career-high in goals (13).

He ranked seventh among all NHL players in shorthanded time-on-ice per-game at 3:25, while ranking second on the team and leading all Flyers forwards for the most shorthanded ice-time at just over 281 minutes during the regular season. Couturier also led the Flyers in shorthanded scoring with five points, which also tied for fourth among all NHL players.

Over three seasons of play, the eighth overall pick of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft has recorded 81 points (30g-51a) and has appeared in 205 out of a possible 212 NHL games, including all 82 games this past season with the Flyers.

Couturier is added to the list of players on the mend this off-season which include defenseman Nicklas Grossmann (right ankle), forwards Tye McGinn (left wrist) and Steve Downie (right ear).
