Flyers look to avoid elimination in a see-saw battle with the Rangers in Game 6





The Flyers enter Games Six trailing in a series for the 18th time in club history, owning a 7-10 record in Game 6 when trailing 3 games to 2… The Flyers also face elimination for the first time this season - they own an all-time record of 30-36 in games when they can be eliminated from the playoffs, but are 6-3 in elimination games since the 2010 playoffs… The Flyers have won two of the last three series in which they were down 2-3, including the last time this scenario has occurred, winning Game 6 and Game 7 against the Buffalo Sabres in the 2011 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals… Overall, the Flyers own a 19-18 mark in Game 6s… The Rangers have posted a 13-2 playoff series record in franchise history when holding a three games to two lead… In the 15 playoff series in franchise history in which the Blueshirts have led three games to two, they have posted a 10-5 record in Game 6.





Nine different Flyers have scored 10 of their goals in the series thus far, while 11 different Rangers have scored 15 of their goals in the series… The Rangers have scored the first goal in four of the five games in the series… The Flyers have scored 40% of their goals on the power play in the series (4-of-10)… The Flyers have received eight points from a combined five defensemen in the series, including three of their 10 goals, while the Rangers have five points from just two members of the defense in the series (Girardi & Staal)… Scott Hartnell and Jakub Voracek lead the Flyers in shots in the series with 11 each, while Rick Nash and Brad Richards lead the Rangers with 23 shots each… The Rangers are out-shooting the Flyers, 152-123, in the series, but have two of their three victories when the Flyers have out-shot them in the game.




This is only the third time in 25 years in Flyers playoffs neither team has won two straight games in a series and first since the 2004 Eastern Conference Final vs. Tampa Bay… Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh leads all players in the series by over three minutes in average time-on-ice per game (26:07)… Both teams have won when they are leading after two periods, going 2-0-0… The Flyers have killed off their last 11 penalties over the last three games and are a perfect 8-for-8 on the PK at home… Overall, they have killed off 20 of 23 during the series, going 87%… In eight of their previous nine playoff series, the Flyers have had at least one game go into overtime, the 2010 Eastern Conference Final vs. Montreal was the only exception, while the Rangers have had eight of their last 10 playoff series have at least one game go past regulation play.
 




Giroux posted his first goal of the playoffs in Sunday's loss at MSG… He now has three points in the series, all coming in three of the last four games… So far in the series, Giroux is averaging 19:14 of ice-time, and leads all Flyers on the power-play with 3:11 of TOI per-game… Giroux has played in five Game 6s in his career, posting seven points (1g-6a) and recording at least a point in four of the five Game 6 games… He continues to average over a point-per-game in the playoffs with 22 goals and 36 assists for 58 points in 55 career games… Dating back to the regular season, Giroux has points in seven of his last nine games.
St. Louis leads all players in the series with six points (2g-4a)… He has recorded at least a point in four of the five games in the series thus far, which includes two multi-point games… He has also recorded over 20 minutes of ice-time in three of the five games thus far to lead all Rangers forward in average TOI in the series at 20:06… St. Louis has played in six Game 6s in his career and has recorded eight points (4g-4a) in those Game 6 situations… In his postseason career, he averages 1.08 points per-game with 74 points (35g-39a) in 68 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
