FIVE THINGS: Game 2 - Flyers at Rangers
Flyers look to even series before heading back home





The Flyers and Rangers face-off in a Sunday matinee for Game 2 of their First Round Series… During the regular season, the Flyers owned a 10-4-4 record and earned at least a point in nine of their last 10 games in start times of 3 pm or earlier, going 7-1-2 in that stretch, while the Rangers went 4-2-0 in six games that started 2 PM or earlier this season… The Rangers have allowed two goals or fewer in each of the last nine games at MSG against Philadelphia and in 15 of the last 18 overall contests against the Flyers… The Flyers had a 10-7-1 record in games following a loss where they have failed to score two goals or more this season.





The Flyers own an all-time record of 37-31 in Game 2s of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, including a record of 19-17 in Game 2 when they are trailing in a series, 0-1… Regardless of their standing in a series, when the Flyers win Game 2, they have gone on to win the series 30 out of 37 times, owning a 30-7 series record… When playing Game 2 on the road, the Flyers have a 12-17 record in Game 2… In Game 2 against the Rangers, the Flyers own a 6-4 record, but have only played Game 2 on the road against the Rangers one time in their 10 previous meetings, losing that Game, 7-3, in the 1982 Patrick Division Semifinal… The Rangers are 32-12 all-time in playoff series when winning Game 1, and have a 21-6 record in playoff series when they won Game 1 at home.




Ray Emery will get the start in net today for the second straight game - it's the first time all season that Emery has started two straight contests… The Rangers had three players play over 20 minutes in Game 1 (McDonagh, Stralman & Girardi), while the Flyers had six players appearing in more than 20 minutes of ice-time (MacDonald, Read, Couturier, Grossmann, Coburn, Streit)… The Flyers had just one power-play in Game 1, marking the fewest number of power-play attempts they've had in a game in the New Year, since Dec. 31 - a span of 43 games… Game 1 saw the Flyers give up more than one power-play goal to the opposition since Mar. 5, a span of 19 games… Claude Giroux has recorded at least a point in six of his nine career Game 2's, posting five goals and eight assists for 13 points in Game 2s.
 




Hartnell will be playing in his 70th Stanley Cup Playoff game with the Flyers today… He posted an assist on the Flyers lone goal in Game 1, giving him a total of 39 points, including 23 assists and 16 goals in the playoffs as a Flyer… Seven of his 16 playoff goals are on the power-play for the Flyers… Dating back to the last playoffs for the Flyers, Hartnell has recorded at least a point in eight of his last 10 playoff games - posting three goals and five assists dating back to Game 3 vs. Pittsburgh in the 2012 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
Richards factored into three of the Rangers' four goals, posting a goal and two assists in Game 1… His three points gives him a total of 29 goals and 52 assists for 81 points in 94 career Stanley Cup Playoff games… Richards has been a Flyer-killer in the playoffs, posting 11 points (5g-6a) in eight career playoff games against the Flyers… Richards led the Rangers in the regular season in power-play points (19)… Overall against the Flyers, Richards averages nearly a point per-game with 43 points (11g-32a) in 45 regular season games.
