Flyers Ink Gostisbehere to an entry-level contract
2014 National Champion to report to Adirondack Phantoms

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed 5-11, 170-lb D Shayne Gostisbehere (GOSS-tiss-bear)  to an entry-level contract, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.   Gostisbehere will report to the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, on Wednesday for the remainder of their season.

Gostisbehere, who turns 21 on Sunday (4/20/1993), was selected by the Flyers in the third round (78th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Last week, he led Union College to their first-ever NCAA hockey championship, culminating in a 7-4 win over the University of Minnesota in the championship game at the Wells Fargo Center.  He was named Most Outstanding Player of the Frozen Four after recording a goal, two assists and a record plus-7 rating vs. the Golden Gophers.  It was the latest in a season full of accolades for Gostisbehere, who was also named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.

Gostisbehere recorded nine goals and 25 assists for 34 points in 42 games in his third and final season at Union.  In 119 career games for the Dutchmen, Gostisbehere posted 22 goals and 60 assists for 82 points.

The Flyers will take on the New York Rangers in the first round of the 2014 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. Tickets are on sale now for home game one and two of the series, or lock in extended access to the playoffs with a 2014-15 season ticket package.
