FIVE THINGS: Flyers at Tampa Bay Lightning

The Flyers come into tonight's game with their last three games decided by a 5-2 score, winning the last two… Tonight is the first time the Flyers will face Tampa Bay with Ryan Callahan in the lineup, he has recorded 11 points (6g-5a) in 17 games since joining the Lightning… The Lightning own a 23-10-6 mark at home this season and are 6-2-3 over the past 11 games on home ice… With three games remaining, the Flyers are tied with Detroit and Columbus entering tonight’s game, but have a game in hand on both teams, and could still face a few different teams in the First Round of the playoffs, while the Lightning are fighting for home-ice advantage in the First Round with Montreal, sitting in third place and three points behind the Canadiens with one game in hand.

The Flyers are winless against the Lightning so far this season, going 0-2-0, and will be looking to avoid getting swept by the Lightning for just the second time in franchise history and first since the 2005-06 season (0-4-0)… The Flyers haven't had much success in Tampa either, going winless in their last four trips dating back to 2010-11… During this year's season series, the Lightning have scored six of their 10 goals in the second period, while the Flyers have been held off the scoresheet in the first period, scoring all five of their goals in the second & third period…  The Flyers do own winning records against Tampa, going 22-19-1-1 on the road and posting an overall mark of 42-29-8-3.

The Flyers have killed off their last 20 penalties on the road dating back to Mar. 2, and have allowed just two power-play goals to the opposition in their last 11 road games, going 34-for-36 dating back to Jan. 22… The Lightning have scored a power-play goal in eight of their past 12 games, going 13-for-52 (25%)… Tampa Bay goaltender Anders Lindback has started each of the past five games against the Flyers and owns an all-time record of 4-3-0 against Philadelphia to go along with a 2.30 goals-against average and .918 save percentage... Flyers defenseman Mark Streit comes into tonight's game with a three-game assist streak, posting five assists in that stretch… Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman is tied for 4th in the NHL among defensemen in scoring with 53 points - he has 10 points (2g-8a) in his past 10 games.

The Flyers captain is coming off a two-goal performance in south Florida bring his point total to 81 points in 79 games… He is one point shy of finishing the season averaging at least a point per-game for the third consecutive season… He now leads the Flyers in points (81), goals (27) and assists (54) and his 81-point total currently ranks fifth among all NHL players… He also leads the team in points on the power play (34), game-winning-goals (7) and all Flyers forwards in average time-on-ice (20:32)… Giroux has three points, all assists, in two games of the season series thus far and averages nearly a point-per-game against the Lightning with 17 points, 14 of them assists, in 19 career games.
Palat is a serious contender to take home the NHL's Rookie of the Year, Calder Trophy… The first-year forward ranks second among all rookies with 57 points, 35 assists and ranks third with 22 goals while leading all rookies in plus-minus at +30 in 79 games… His 57 points are tied for second among all players on the Lightning… Recently Palat has been riding a four-game point streak with three goals and six points in that span… Against the Flyers this season, he has one goal in two games, but has a pair of goals in three career games against Philadelphia.
