FIVE THINGS: Flyers at Boston Bruins
Flyers travel to Boston for rematch with NHL leading Bruins

The Bruins return home after a four-game road trip and have played seven of their last nine games on the road, while the Flyers go on the road after playing seven of their last nine games at home… Beginning today in Boston, the Flyers have four of their final six games on the road and play their last six games in a span of nine days… The Flyers come in going 1-3-2 in their last six games, including two straight shutouts by the opposition and scoreless streak of 130:25 dating back to Vincent Lecavalier’s late-third-period goal that tied the game vs. the Bruins last Sunday… The Bruins come in having lost their last two games, going 0-1-1, after going 15-0-1 in their previous 16 games… They have not lost three straight games since they went 0-3-1 from Apr. 11-20 of last season… The Bruins are also 6-0-1 in their last seven home games… Boston owns the best home record in the NHL at 29-7-3.

The Flyers are looking for their first win of the season series against the Bruins, going 0-1-1, most recently dropping a 4-3 shootout loss on Mar. 30… This is the first meeting of the year at Boston for the Flyers, who have gone 6-2-3 over the last six seasons on the Bruins home ice… The Flyers have not gone winless in a season series against Boston since 1997-98 (0-3-1) and have not been swept by the Bruins in a season series since 1989-90… Jarome Iginla leads the Bruins with five points (2g-3a) in two games against the Flyers this season, while Kimmo Timonen (1g-2a) and Jakub Voracek (3a) lead the Flyers with three points in the season series against Boston… Today is the first of games on back-to-back days for the Flyers who are 6-6-0 in that scenario.

Braydon Coburn leads the NHL for most shorthanded time-on-ice (303:54) and SH TOI per-game at nearly four minutes per-game (3:59)… Andrew MacDonald continues to lead the NHL in blocked shots (235) and is still the only NHL player with over 200 blocks this season… The Bruins have the top three players in the NHL in plus-minus rating (Krejci: +37, Bergeron: +36, Iginla: +34)… The Flyers are 9-3-3 and have earned a point in seven straight games in start times of 3 pm or earlier, going 6-0-1, with their lone loss a shootout loss to the Bruins last Sunday… The Bruins own a 12-2-1 mark in afternoon contests this season… The Bruins have gone 19-for-20 on the penalty kill in their last seven home games, while the Flyers have gone 26-for-27 on the PK in their last eight games on the road, including a current streak of 18 straight games without allowing a goal on the penalty kill in their last five road games.

Giroux has been held without a point for three straight games - he has not gone four-straight scoreless games since the opening of this season when he went five straight without a point… Despite that, Giroux is tied for fourth overall in the NHL in scoring with 78 points and tied for fifth with 53 assists and fifth in points on the power-play (33) through 76 games… The Flyers are 19-2-1 this season when Giroux has a goal, 32-13-3 when he has a point and the last 16 Flyers victories have come when Giroux finds the scoresheet… Giroux has recorded over 20 minutes of ice-time in each of his last three games and five of his last six - he leads Flyers forwards in TOI per-game (20:36) and is the only Flyer forward over 20 minutes per-game.
Just like last Sunday, Bergeron is the Bruin to watch out for… He currently owns a career-high 10-game point streak in which he has nine goals and five assists for 14 points in that span… He ranks second on the Bruins in goals (28) and third in points (59) having appeared in all 77 games for Boston this season… Bergeron continues to lead the NHL in face-off victories (978) and win percentage of players over 1,000 attempts at 58.6%… Against the Flyers, Bergeron has two goals in two games of the season series and has 23 points (10g-13a) in 32 career games against the Orange & Black.
