FIVE THINGS: Flyers vs. Los Angeles Kings
Flyers put five-game winning streak on the line as Richards, Carter return




The Flyers will be looking for their sixth straight win in a span of 10 days… They have won five straight games, four of which against teams with 90 points or more in the standings… It is the longest win streak of the season for the Flyers and longest streak since they posted seven straight wins from Dec. 2-15 in 2011-12… During this current streak, The Flyers have out-scored their opponent, 19-8, gone 26.3% on the power-play (5-for-17) and killed off 95% (20-of-21) penalties… Claude Giroux leads the team, and tied for the NHL lead, with nine points (1g-8a), while Wayne Simmonds leads the Flyers with five goals, three of which are on the power-play… Steve Mason is 4-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and .948 save percentage, stopping 110 of 116 shots.




The Kings come into tonight having won two straight games and 10 of their last 13 games, going 10-3-0 with all three of their losses coming by one goal in that stretch… They have also won five straight games on the road, out-scoring their opponent, 18-9… The Kings have scored a power-play goal in eight of their 10 games in March, going 8-for-32 (25%) and 89% on the penalty kill (25-for-28)…  Jonathan Quick is 8-2-0 in his last 10 games, posting a 1.39 GAA and .942 save percentage with two shutouts… Anze Kopitar has 15 points in the last 14 games, recording six goals and nine assists in that span.




This is the second and final meeting of the season against the Kings and first on home-ice… The Flyers shut out LA on Feb. 1, 2-0, with goals from Wayne Simmonds and Claude Giroux, while Steve Mason made 35 saves… This is the first meeting between the two teams in Philadelphia since Oct. 15, 2011, a 3-2 OT loss… The Flyers have had a lot of success at home against LA, earning at least a point in the standings in 11 of their last 12 games dating back to 1993-94, going 9-1-2… The Flyers own a 42-16-7-2 record at home against the Kings and will be going for their 84th overall victory against Los Angeles, owning a 83-37-15-3 lifetime record… The Flyers have recalled forward Tye McGinn as Steve Downie is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
 




Simmonds is coming off of back-to-back multi-point games, and three multi-point games in his last four contests, while posting at least a point in four of his last five games for five goals and eight points in that span… He has 11 points (6g-5a) in 10 games during March and since Feb. 1, has averaged over a point per game with 16 points (7g-9a) in 15 games… Simmonds is tied for the team lead in goals (24) and leads the Flyers in power-play goals (13) which is also tied for 2nd among all NHL players… He has set new career highs in points (54) and assists (30) this season… Simmonds scored his 100th NHL goal in the last meeting against the Kings (Feb. 1) and in two games against his former club, has two points (1g-1a). Tonight marks the first time Carter will play against his former team at the Wells Fargo Center since being traded on June 23, 2011 to the Columbus Blue Jackets… Carter leads the Kings in goals (24) and ranks second in scoring with 45 points in 61 games… He has 11 points in his last 14 games, posting four goals and seven assists, and has 33 points (17g-16a) in his last 40 games… Carter also helped Team Canada win a gold medal in his first Olympics this past February… As a Flyer, Carter posted 181 goals and 162 assists for 343 points in 461 games over six seasons with the Flyers (2005-11).
