Downie update; McGinn recalled

UPDATED: Flyers GM Paul Holmgren announced that forward Steve Downie is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury and the club will recall forward Tye McGinn from their AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms later today.

McGinn is tied for the team lead with 20 goals and ranks third on the Phantoms with 35 points in 54 games for Adirondack. His 20 goals, 15 assists and 35 points are a new career-high for the 24-year-old.

He had previously been recalled by the Flyers on Jan. 8 of this season, but was returned on Jan. 11. He has three points, all goals, in eight regular season games with the Flyers this year.

The Flyers look to finish off their four-game homestand with a perfect record after going 3-0-0 in the previous three games, when they face off against the Los Angeles Kings. (7 p.m. on CSN & 97.5 The Fanatic).

MAR. 22: Midway through the first period, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced that forward Steve Downie has an upper-body injury and will not return to the Flyers-Blues game.

Downie suffered the injury early, appearing in just one shift, in the first period when he collided with 6-2, 217-lb Blues center Patrik Berglund.

Downie has missed eight games due to injury so far this season, but has not been out of the lineup for more than two games since early in the season when he missed four games from Nov. 2-9 due to a concussion.
