1. COMING INTO TODAY
The Flyers come into today's game playing the second of games on back-to-back days - they own a 6-4-0 record in the second half of back-to-backs, but have dropped the last two times in that scenario… The Flyers are 6-2-0 in their last eight games and have recorded three goals or more in six of those eight games… The Capitals come into today on a season-high, four-game winning streak where they have out-scored their opponent, 16-8… Washington is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games and has averaged 3.70 goals per game during that span… The Caps have scored three or more goals in over half of their games (34 times), going 26-4-4 when doing so… After Saturday's win over the Rangers, the Flyers improved their record to 5-3-2 in starts of 3 pm or earlier.

2. FACING THE CAPS
Today is the fourth of five meetings against the Caps and final meeting in Washington… It is also the second home-and-home series the two teams will have played against each other as the Flyers will host the Caps at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday… The Flyers own a 1-1-1 record this season against the Caps after splitting wins in mid-December and earning the win in the last meeting (5-2 on Dec. 17)… The Capitals have earned a point in 15 of their last 19 games against the Flyers, going 10-4-5 in that time, and seven of the last 14 games between the teams have gone past regulation play… Jakub Voracek leads the Flyers with three goals in the season series, while Nicklas Backstrom has six points (2g-4a) in three games against the Flyers this season… Caps goaltender Braden Holtby has won six of his last seven games.

3. A TALE OF TWO PERIODS
The Flyers have given up seven goals in the second period over the last two games, while the Capitals have scored four goals in the second period in their last two games… The Caps have scored 72 goals in the second period this season, which is tied for third in the NHL… The Flyers have scored a goal in the third period now in nine consecutive games, recording 15 goals, which is 53.6 percent of their goals in the eight-game span (15 of 28) and are third in the NHL for most goals scored in the third period (69).

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Wayne Simmonds (RW: 17)
Simmonds currently has a four-game point and assist streak going with five points in the four-game span… He is tied for the Flyers lead in goals (19 - with Giroux) and ranks second on the Flyers in points (45), which is four shy of his career-high in points over his six-year career… Simmonds' 26 assists ranks second on the team as well and is a new career high… Four of his last six goals have come on the power-play… Against the Capitals, Simmonds has seven points (3g-4a) in 14 games. 

5. Player to watch CAPITALS: Alex Ovechkin (C: 8)
Ovechkin leads the NHL in goals with 43, which is 10 more than the next closest player (Kessel - 33)… He also leads the NHL with 17 goals on the power play… Ovechkin is fifth in the NHL in points (65) and has recorded a point in four straight games, posting four goals and seven points in that span… Since the start of the New Year, Ovechkin has gone just four games without recording a point, finding the scoresheet in 15 of 19 games… Against the Flyers, Ovechkin has 26 goals and 42 points in 31 career games, including two goals in two games in the season series this year against the Flyers.
