Flyers recall Heeter, Emery has lower-body injury
Phantoms second-year netminder earns first recall of the year

The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have recalled goaltender Cal Heeter from their AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, on an emergency basis tonight and that Flyers goaltender Ray Emery is day-to-day with a lower body injury, according to GM Paul Holmgren.

Emery appeared in net for 20:02, coming in relief of Steve Mason in Thursday's loss to San Jose, but was replaced by Mason towards the end of the game after suffering the injury.

He is 7-9-1 with a 3.02 goals-against average and .898 save percentage in 22 games for the Flyers this season, including 4-2-0 in his last 10 games with a 2.75 GAA and .915 save percentage since Dec. 31.

This is Heeter's second recall to the Flyers and NHL, and first to the Flyers this season.

Heeter owns a 15-19-0 record in 35 appearances for the Phantoms this season to go along with a 2.48 GAA and .916 save percentage. He started 14-of-15 games from Nov. 30 through Jan. 10 while back up goaltender Yann Danis was injured.

He was also named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for Period ending on Jan. 4 after going 3-0-0 with 86 saves on 87 shots for a .989 save percentage, including two shutouts.

In his second season with the Phantoms and in the AHL, Heeter has already set career highs in games played (35) and wins (15).

Heeter appeared in one preseason game for the Flyers, earning the club's only win of the preseason with a 3-2 shootout victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sept. 16.
