OFFICIAL NHL GAME NOTES  I PHI vs NYR: A Deeper Look
1. MARCH-ING ON
The Flyers have 14 games in March with 10 of them on home ice… After six straight games against opponents from the Western Conference, the Flyers play their first Eastern Conference opponent in 32 days (since Jan. 28 vs. Detroit) and first Metropolitan Division opponent since Jan. 23 at Columbus… The Flyers will play their next seven games, all against Eastern Conference teams, six of which are Metropolitan Division opponents… Four of the next seven Flyers games will be day-time starts - the Flyers own a 4-3-2 mark in morning/starts of 3 pm or earlier.

2. THE SEASON SERIES
Today is the third of four meetings and second and final meeting at home against the Rangers… The teams split the first two games with each team winning on home-ice… Two of the three goals scored against the Rangers have come in the third period, while the Rangers have scored four of their five goals in the first period of the season series… Steve Mason earned the Flyers win over the Rangers this season, stopping 30 shots on 31 saves for a 2-1 win on Oct. 24, while Matt Read factored into both goals, recording a goal and an assist in the victory… Rangers rookie Chris Kreider leads the team with three points (1g-2a) while Brad Richards has the most shots of either team in the season series with 12.

3. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER
The Rangers come into today having won two straight and six of their last seven games out-scoring their opponent 24-12 in that span… 23 of the Rangers' 33 victories have come against the Eastern Conference (23-14-3)… The Flyers have scored a goal in the third period in eight-consecutive games, recording 14 goals, which is 58.3 percent of their goals in the eight-game span (14 of 24) and are tied for second in the NHL for most goals scored in the third period (68)… The Rangers are tied for third in the NHL with the least amount of goals given up in the third period (43)… Wayne Simmonds has assists in each of his last three games and points in four of his last five games (1g-4a--5pts)… Rangers forward Derek Brassard currently has a seven-game point streak, posting nine points (4g-5a) in that span.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Sean Couturier (C: 14)
Couturier posted an assist in Thursday's loss to San Jose and has recorded at least a point in five of his last seven games, posting five assists and six points in that span, including four assists in his last four games… Couturier has surpassed his career high in scoring this season with 29 points (9g-20a) through 60 games - his 20 assists are six higher than his previous high of 14 in 2011-12… Against the Rangers, Couturier hasn't had much success with just three assists in 12 career meetings, however he posted an assist in the last meeting against the Blueshirts, a 4-1 loss on Jan. 14.

5. Player to watch RANGERS: Henrik Lundqvist (G: 30)
The Rangers netminder stopped 27 of 38 shots he saw in the last meeting with the Flyers to earn a 4-1 victory on Jan. 12… Lundqvist comes into today's game riding a five-game winning streak posting a 1.77 GAA and .940 save percentage during the stretch… He has allowed two goals or fewer in 10 of his last 12 games, going 10-2-0 with a 1.58 GAA & .948 save percentage… Lundqvist is two wins away from 300 career victories in the NHL with a record of 298-198-60 record and is two shutouts away from an NHL milestone of 50 shutouts… Against the Flyers, he has a career mark of 26-12-3 with a 2.49 GAA & .916 save percentage.
