OFFICIAL NHL GAME NOTES  I PHI vs CGY: A Deeper Look
1. ONE MORE TO GO
The Flyers enter today's game which is the last game before they take an 18-day break between games for the Winter Olympics… The Flyers are 1-2-1 in the game before the Olympic break in the four previous times the NHL has paused for the Olympics since 1998, winning the last time in 2010 after losing the first three times… The Flyers will be sending five players to the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia -  Michael Raffl (Austria - 1st time); Jakub Voracek (Czech Republic - 1st time); Kimmo Timonen (Finland - 5th time); Andrej Meszaros (Slovakia - 2nd time); Mark Streit (Switzerland - 4th time).

2. HOT HOT HOT!
Both the Flyers and Flames come into today's game on hot streaks… The Flyers have won their last three games, outscoring their opponent, 10-3 in that span, while also winning three of their last four games… The Flames have won six of their last seven games, including their last game, a 4-2 win at NY Islanders -  Five of the six victories have come against teams with an above .500 record and four of the six victories were decided by one goal… Calgary has a 9-9-4 record versus the Eastern Conference this season and a 6-3-3 record against the Metropolitan Division, while the Flyers have an 11-8-2 mark against the Western Conference and 7-4-0 against the Pacific Division, winning six of their last seven against that Division.

3. SOME IMPRESSIVE NUMBERS
The Flyers have scored a goal on the power play in eight straight games, going 8-for-25 (32%)… It is the second eight-game streak for the Flyers on the PP this season (Nov. 12-27)… The last time they have scored a PPG in nine straight came over six years ago, from Jan. 5-29, 2008 which was an 11-game streak… The Flyers rank third in the NHL in scoring third-period goals (66) and have scored at least a goal in the third period in their last six games, averaging two goals per-game in the third period with 12 goals in that span - on the flip-side, the Flyers have only allowed five goals in the third period in their last six games.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Claude Giroux (C: 28)
As long as Giroux keeps scoring goals, he'll continue to be the player to watch - Giroux has scored in each of his last three games, which is a season-high, while also recording six points (3g-3a) in each of his last three games… Giroux has also recorded a goal in five of his last six games and has 10 points (5g-5a) in that six-game stretch… Since Dec. 11 (a span of 60 days), Giroux leads all NHL players in scoring with 36 points (14g-22a) in 28 games… Against the Flames, Giroux has three points (1g-2a) in five meetings.

5. Player to watch FLAMES: Sean Monahan (C: 23)
The 19-year-old rookie, and 2013 6th overall pick in the NHL, has recorded points in four of his last five games, recording two goals and two assists in that span… He leads the Flames this year with 16 goals, which is also third among all NHL rookies, and ranks fourth on Calgary in points (24) in 50 games… In the Flames first and only meeting against the Flyers this season, Monahan scored their only goal.

QUOTABLE
"We have one game left and we need to dial it in for a big effort and then we'll be able to enjoy ourselves."
- Scott Hartnell
