OFFICIAL NHL GAME NOTES  I PHI vs COL: A Deeper Look
1. BACK AT HOME
The Flyers return home after three straight games on the road, going 2-1-0 on their six-day California trip… The Flyers will now play four straight games at home, breaking halfway through their homestand for the Winter Olympics (18-day break)… The Flyers have 25 games remaining this season with 16 of them remaining on home-ice, including 10 of 14 games in the month of March… The Flyers are tied (with Tampa Bay) for having played the fewest games at home so far this season (25).

2. THE PEEEEECOOOOO POWER PLAY
The Flyers have recorded a power-play goal in seven straight games, going 7-for-20 (35%) in that span… The Flyers have also posted at least one goal on the man-advantage in 11 of their last 13 games… Overall, the Flyers are tied for eighth in the NHL on the power-play at 19.8% (41-for-207), but rank 24th in the NHL on home ice, scoring just 14 goals on 96 chances at 14.6% - despite their home struggles, the Flyers have gone 50% (3-for-6) on the power-play in their last three games at home…  Claude Giroux leads the team on the power-play in assists (18) and overall points (24), while Wayne Simmonds leads the Flyers in goals on the man-advantage (9).

3. ABOUT THE FLYERS & ABOUT THE AVS
The Flyers have won three of their last four games, out-scoring the opposition 15 to 7 in that span… The Avs come into tonight having lost their last game (5-1 at NYR), which snapped a four-game winning streak… The Avs have won nine of their last 12 games and have earned at least a point in the standings in 18 of their last 23 games, going 14-5-4 in that span… This is the second and final meeting of the season against Colorado, who won the first meeting, 2-1 on Jan. 2… The Flyers have recorded a point in the standings in four consecutive home games against the Avalanche, going 2-0-2 and have not lost to the Avs in regulation at home since Mar. 16, 2002 (2-1 L)… Colorado, however, is 14-4-6 versus the Flyers since relocating to Denver in 1995… The Avs are also 8-2-0 in their last 10 meetings with the Flyers.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Claude Giroux (C: 28)
Giroux has posted multi-point games in two straight and in three of his last four games, recording three goals and eight points in that stretch… He also comes into tonight riding a four-game point streak on home ice where he has also posted eight points (3g-5a) and also recorded two points or more in three of those last four home games… Giroux now ranks third overall in the NHL in scoring since he posted his first goal of the season on Nov. 9, recording 48 points (18g-30a) in 42 games… Giroux has just played three games against the Avalanche in his career, recording one goal.

5. Player to watch AVALANCHE: Nathan MacKinnon (C: 29)
This past summer's No. 1 overall pick in the Draft comes into tonight's game riding a career-high six-game point streak, posting nine points (3g-6a) during the streak, while also recording at least a point in eight of his last nine games with 13 points (5g-8a) in that span… MacKinnon leads all NHL rookies in scoring with 42 points, while also leading all rookies with 20 goals and 22 assists in 56 games - he is one of just three players on the Avs to have appeared in every game so far for Colorado.
