1. COMING INTO TONIGHT
The Flyers come into tonight's game looking to snap a four-game winless skid, having lost three straight games… The Flyers have not dropped four straight since the beginning of the season (Oct. 11-17) and will be looking to avoid their first five-game skid of the entire season…  The Flyers have not dropped five straight games in any fashion since Mar. 31-Apr. 8, 2011… The Red Wings come into tonight's game earning points in each of their last three games, going 2-0-1, and play their first road game since Jan. 16, having recently completed a five-game homestand… Tonight is just the third game against a Metropolitan Division opponent for the Red Wings in the last 45 days… The Red Wings own a 6-4-3 record but have just one win against the Metropolitan Division in their last five games, while the Flyers have an 8-7-1 mark against the Atlantic Division, going 4-2-1 in their last seven games against the Atlantic.

2. A TIGHT KNIT GROUP
Coming into today, the Flyers sit in a tie for fourth place in the Metropolitan Division with Columbus at 56 points, and one point behind Carolina who has 57 points - All three teams are in action tonight… The NY Rangers, who are off tonight, sit in second place with 59 points… Only five points separate the Rangers in second place with the Washington Capitals, who sit in seventh place in the division at 54 points… Five of the Eight teams in the Metropolitan Division are in action tonight.

3. THE SEASON SERIES
The Flyers wrap up the season series against the Red Wings with their first and only meeting of the year at home… They are 1-1-0 against the Wings, splitting a pair of games at Detroit… Of the 16 goals scored in the season series between the two teams, nearly half have been scored on the power-play (7), with the Red Wings posting four of their eight goals on the man advantage… Five of the Flyers eight goals in the season series have come in the third period… The Flyers have one of the best records on home ice against the Red Wings in their history, owning a .697 winning pct. at 37-13-11-0 and own a seven-game home-winning streak against the Red Wings dating back to the 1997-98 season - this is just the eighth game on home ice against the Red Wings in the last 16 seasons as Detroit’s last win over the Flyers came on Jan. 25, 1997.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Claude Giroux (C: 28)
The Flyers captain has goals in two of his last three games and has five points (2g-3a) in his last five games… He has recorded at least a point in every other game in the month of January, posting four goals and six assists for 10 points in 13 games on the month… Giroux leads the team in points (47), assists (32) and is second in goals (15) and tied for the team lead in game-winning-goals (4)… In two games against the Red Wings this season, Giroux has a goal and two assists for three points… In his career against Detroit, Giroux has recorded six points (3g-3a) in seven games. 

5. Player to watch RED WINGS: Gustav Nyquist (RW: 14)
With injuries to their two star players, Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, Gustav Nyquist is tonight's player to watch on the Red Wings… He comes into the game riding a five-game point streak, including a four game goal-scoring streak… Over the course of his last five games, he has posted seven points (4g-3a)… In his only game against the Flyers, he recorded one assist.
