OFFICIAL NHL GAME NOTES  I PHI vs BOS: A Deeper Look
1. COMING INTO TODAY
Today is the seventh day/morning start-time for the Flyers, who own a 2-2-2 record in that category, while the Bruins play their ninth day game, owning a 6-1-1 mark… The Flyers come into tonight having dropped three straight games and have gone 2-4-2 in their last eight overall, however in that stretch, the Flyers have recorded a power-play goal in six of those eight games, going 23.3 % (7-for-30)… The Flyers have given up 30 or more shots in each of their last three games and five of their last seven contests… The Bruins come into tonight's game after a four-day break in game action, having last played on Monday, a 3-2 win vs. LA… Boston has dropped four of it's last seven games, going 3-3-1 in that span.

2. THE RIVALRY
This is the first of three meetings against the Bruins and first of two meetings at home against Boston… Last season, the Flyers went 2-1-0, winning both games on home ice and outscoring the Bruins 8 to 3 at home last season… The Bruins are tied for third in the NHL in third-period goals (57), while the Flyers are tied for fifth (54)…  All-time, Boston is one of only two teams (Montreal) in which the Flyers have an all-time record under .500, and the only team the Flyers have a losing record on their home ice, just two games shy of the .500 mark at 37-39-10-3.

3. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER
The Bruins lead the Eastern Conference and are tied for the NHL lead for fewest goals against, having given up 106 goals for an average of 2.2 per-game… Tuukka Rask leads all NHL goaltenders in shutouts with five and ranks third overall in save percentage (.929)… Steve Mason is 17-5-5 in his last 28 appearances and has just five regulation losses since November 2… Mason also has a 3-0-1 mark with a 1.48 GAA and .957 save percentage, having given up only six goals in four career appearances against the Bruins… Claude Giroux has posted nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points in the last 20 games… Three players from each team today will be teammates at the 2014 Winter Olympics (Kimmo Timonen & Tuukka Rask - Finland; Andrej Meszaros & Zdeno Chara - Slovakia; David Krejci & Jakub Voracek - Czech Republic).

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Mark Streit (D: 32)
Streit has recorded at least a point in four of his last seven games, posting a goal and four assists for five points… He leads all Flyers defensemen in goals (6), assists (18) and points (24) and ranks fourth overall on the team in average time-on-ice per-game (20:14)… Streit has had a good amount of success against the Bruins in his career, posting  24 points (1g-23a) in 34 career games.

5. Player to watch BRUINS: Brad Marchand (LW: 63)
Marchand is the hottest player in the NHL over the last four games - he has six goals and seven points in that span… He leads the Bruins with 16 goals, including five game-winning-goals and leads all NHL players with four shorthanded goals this year… Marchand ranks third on the team in plus-minus at plus-16, while averaging under 16 minutes of time-on-ice per-game (15:57)… Against the Flyers, Marchand has seven points (3g-4a) in 13 games.
