OFFICIAL NHL GAME NOTES  I PHI vs NSH: A Deeper Look
1. COMING INTO TONIGHT
The Flyers return home where they will play three of their next four, and five of their next seven games, where they are 12-8-0 and have won 10 of their last 11 games… The Flyers have won four of their last six games and have had a hot power-play during that stretch, posting a goal on the man-advantage in five of those contests and going 6-for-25 (24.0%)… The Flyers penalty killing unit has been even hotter - they have killed 30 of 31 shorthanded situations (96.8%) over the last nine games… The Predators are coming off of a victory in their last game, but have dropped six of their last eight contests, with five of the losses coming by one goal… The Predators have also lost five straight games on the road.

2. PREDATORS COME TO TOWN
The Flyers have won three consecutive games on home ice over the Predators over the course of the last five seasons with their last home loss to Nashville coming on Nov. 29, 2006… Since the Predators came into the NHL in 1998-99, the Flyers are 5-2-1-1 in nine games on home ice… This is also the second and final meeting of the season against Nashville, with the Flyers earning a 3-2 shootout win at Nashville on Nov. 30… Overall, the Flyers have an 8-3-3-3 record in 17 meetings against the Predators which is also the exact amount of trades the two teams have made with each other over the last 14 seasons… The Flyers have four former-Predators on their team (Hartnell, Timonen, Hall & Gill), while the Predators have one former Flyer (Carter Hutton).

3. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER
The Flyers are one of only two teams in the NHL to have seven players record at least 10 goals on the season so far (Winnipeg Jets)… Nashville has not allowed a shorthanded goal since March 21, 2013, they are the only team in the NHL not to have allowed a shorthanded goal this season… 17 of the 20 Predators victory have come when they have scored the first goal, they are 17-2-4 when scoring first… The Predators just acquired goaltender Devan Dubnyk in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers yesterday, the Flyers defeated Dubnyk this season, 4-2, on Nov. 9… Star goaltender Pekka Rinne has been out of action since, Oct. 24 with a hip injury… The Flyers have a 3-4-1 record against the Central Division - with a victory tonight, the Flyers will have a .500 or better record against every Division in the NHL.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Wayne Simmonds (RW: 17)
Simmonds posted a two assists in the Flyers' 4-3 win over Buffalo on Tuesday, giving him points in six of his last eight games for a total of five assist and eight points in that span… Simmonds continues to lead the Flyers with 15 goals, including eight power-play goals, and ranks third on the team in points (32)… Simmonds has four goals and seven points in 15 career games against the Predators.

5. Player to watch PREDATORS: Shea Weber  (D: 6)
Weber ranks second on the team in scoring with 30 points (11g-19a) and leads the Predators with eight of his 11 goals coming on the power play… His 11 goals also leads all NHL defensemen… He has posted 18 points (4g-14a) in his last 19 games… Weber leads the Predators and ranks fourth overall in the NHL in time-on-ice, averaging 26:44 per game… Weber was named to his second straight Winter Olympics for Team Canada, winning a Gold Medal in 2010… Against the Flyers, Weber has four points, all assists, in six games.

QUOTABLE
"They have a good power-play, especially with [Weber] out there with his shot… It'll be a tough challenge, but the best way to defend the power-play is to stay out of the penalty box."
- Craig Berube
