GAME NOTES  I NHL.com Preview
1. TURNPIKE RIVALRY
This is the third of four meetings against the Devils… The teams have combined for four goals in the two meetings, both of which have been shutouts with the Flyers dropping the last contest, 3-0 on Nov. 7 in Philadelphia, but winning the first meeting, 1-0 at New Jersey on Nov. 2… All four goals have come at even strength as neither team has scored on the power-play in eight attempts this season… The Flyers have won the season series against the Devils in four of the last five seasons, however all-time, the Flyers own a 78-85-15-10 record since the franchise moved to New Jersey in 1982, including a 29-54-6-5 mark at New Jersey.

2. ON THE LINE
The Flyers will be looking to solidify their second-place position in the Metropolitan Division with 46 points, one point ahead of the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers, both do not play tonight, and the Carolina Hurricanes, who play Buffalo… Four points separate the second-place Flyers with the seventh-place Columbus Blue Jackets in the Metropolitan Division… The Flyers are tied for the fifth most Regulation/Overtime wins in the Eastern Conference (18)… Of the next 12 Flyers games, 11 will be Eastern Conference opponents, with six being Metropolitan Division opponents.

3. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER
The Flyers come into tonight, looking to improve on their 4-1-0 record on their six-game road trip… The Flyers have also won seven of their last nine games, going 7-2-0, while New Jersey has lost two straight games, but has points in seven of its last ten, going 5-3-2 in that span… The Devils are the NHL's least penalized team, averaging 7.9 PIM's per-game, while the Flyers are the NHL's most penalized team, averaging 16.2 PIM's per-game… Four of the last five Devils games have been decided by one-goal, all of which were 2-1… The Flyers are perfect on the penalty kill in the last four games, going 12-for-12… The Devils own the 2nd best penalty killing unit at home in the NHL at 91.8% (56-for-61).

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Scott Hartnell (LW: 19)
Hartnell comes into tonight riding a seven-game point streak in which he has posted three goals and eight points… Hartnell will be going for a career-high point streak tonight as his current seven-game streak matches a career-high, with the last time coming in the 2011-12 season (Dec. 19-Jan. 5)… Hartnell is tied for the team lead in plus-minus (with Timonen at +5)… He is fifth on the team in points (21) with nine goals and 12 assists… Against the Devils, Hartnell has 10 goals and 19 points in 45 games and leads all current Flyers with 65 penalty minutes against New Jersey.

5. Player to watch DEVILS: Jaromir Jagr (RW: 68)
Jagr owns 41 goals and 67 assists for 108 points in his career against the Flyers… For the Devils, he leads the team in assists (21), points (34), plus-minus (+11) and is tied for the team lead in goals (13)… Jagr has just one point (assist) in his last six games… In two meetings against the Flyers this season, Jagr has one goal… At 694 career goals, he will pass Mark Messier with his next goal for seventh all-time in NHL history.

QUOTABLE
"These Division games especially are big and New Jersey, they've always played us tough and we've always had a tough time winning in New Jersey. So we have to have that mentality that we've had the last few games and come out with a big effort and get two points."
- Scott Hartnell
