GAME NOTES  I NHL.com Preview
1. YOU AGAIN?
The Flyers play the back end of their home-and-home series against the Capitals tonight… The Flyers have won the second game in four of their last five home-and-home series dating back to 2010, with three of the victories decided by a 2-1 score… This is the third of five games against the Caps this season - they are one of only two teams (Pittsburgh) that the Flyers will play five times this season… Joel Ward (3g-2a) and Nicklas Backstrom (2g-3a) each have five points in two games of the season series against the Flyers… Tonight is a meeting among the top penalized teams in the NHL as Washington ranks 27th with 13.8 PIMs per-game and the Flyers are 30th with 18 PIMs per game.

2. HOME-SWEET-HOME… FOR NOW
After playing nine of their last 11 games away from the Wells Fargo Center, the Flyers will play three of their next four games on home ice… They are riding a six-game winning streak at home, out-scoring their opponent, 22-9, including winning back-to-back one-goal games… Claude Giroux has posted a point in five of his last six home games, recording four goals and seven points in that span… Steve Mason has gone 5-0-0 with a 2.33 GAA and .924 save percentage in that span… The Flyers have not allowed a goal on the power play in their last three games on home ice, going 10-for-10 in that stretch, with the last PPG allowed coming on Nov. 21 against the Buffalo Sabres in the first period.

3. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER
The Capitals have had their last three games decided by a shootout and lead the NHL with most shootouts on the year (11) and shootout victories (8)… Washington has gone 5-for-13 (38.4%) on the power-play in their last three games, and have recorded a PPG in five of their last six… After going past regulation play just once in their first 18 games on the season, the Flyers have played over 60 minutes four times in the last 15 games, including twice in the last four games… The Flyers are 8-9-1 in games following a loss of any kind, and 1-2-0 in games after an overtime or shootout loss.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Michael Raffl - (RW) #12
Raffl is coming off a three point game against the Caps, recording three assists on the four Flyers goals… He has points in three of his last four games, recording six points (2g-4a) in that span… Raffl has been playing on the top line with Giroux and Voracek in the last two games… It is his first season in the NHL… He averages just under 13 minutes per game (12:58).

5. Player to watch CAPITALS: Alex Ovechkin - (C) #8
For the second straight game, Ovechkin is the Caps player to watch being the NHL's leading goal scorer with 27 goals in 31 games, including the game-tying-goal in the final minute of play against the Flyers on Sunday… He also leads the NHL in power-play goals (11) and shots on goal (164)… He is fifth among NHL forwards in time-on-ice (21:28) per game and recorded over 25 minutes (25:08) on Sunday against the Flyers… Lifetime, Ovechkin has 26 goals and 41 points in 30 games against the Flyers.
