GAME NOTES  I NHL.com Preview
1. BACK AT IT
After a quick stop at the Wells Fargo Center, the Flyers hit the road again, playing their  ninth game on the road in their last 11 contests… The Flyers will also play eight of their next 11 games on the road… The Flyers have dropped their last three games on the road and four of their last five away from the Wells Fargo Center… Tonight is also the first home-and-home series for the Flyers as they take on the Caps Tuesday night in Philadelphia… The Flyers actually play two consecutive home-and-home series this week, taking on Columbus on Thursday (home) and Saturday (away)… The Flyers have five home-and-home series this season, while the Caps have three home-and-home series this season, two of which are against the Flyers.

2. REMEMBER LAST TIME?
Today is the first meeting between the two teams since the Capitals walked out with a 7-0 victory on Nov. 1 at the Wells Fargo Center with Joel Ward posting a hat trick and five Washington goals were scored in the second period… In that game, a series of third-period fights left the Flyers with 99 PIM for the game, the most they’d had in a single night since 2004… The total for the game was 164 penalty minutes, 120 of which came in the third period (WSH-52; PHI-68)… The Flyers are 6-3-1 in Washington over the last six years and overall, own a 41-37-13-4 record in the Nation's Capital.

3. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER
This is the just the third time in the last 16 games the Flyers have faced an opponent from their Division and first time since Nov. 23 (NY Islanders, 5-2 W)… The Capitals have won five of their last seven games, going 5-1-1… Five of the Capitals last nine games have gone past regulation play, including four to a shootout and each of their last two games… The Caps have played in the most shootouts (10) of any team in the NHL thus far… The Flyers power-play unit ranks 2nd in the NHL on the road, operating at 26.3 percent, going 15-for-57 this season… The Caps power play ranks second in the NHL overall at 24.6 percent (30-for-122) and is even more potent at home, going 20-for-67 (29.9 percent).

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Jakub Voracek - (RW) #93
Voracek is the hot Flyer lately, posting points in three straight games for four points (2g-2a) in that span… All five of Voracek's goals this season have come on the road… He ranks third on the team in points with 16 points (5g-11a) and is fourth on the team in shots on goal (76)… Voracek hasn't had much success against the Caps - he has three assists and four points in 13 career games.

5. Player to watch CAPITALS: Alex Ovechkin - (C) #8
He leads the NHL in goals (26) and power-play goals (11) and shots on goal (158), while ranking tied for seventh in points (35) in 30 games… He has six goals in his last six games, including a four-goal game on Dec. 10 vs. Tampa Bay… Ovechkin has over 20 minutes of time on ice in 24 of his 30 games, and over 22 minutes in 12 of those contests… Against the Flyers, Ovechkin has 24 goals and 39 points in 29 career games.

QUOTABLE
"We have to win. We have to get two points. We can't worry about what happened a month ago. I'm sure they'll be emotion and it'll be a physical game for sure, but we want to beat them on the scoreboard - kind of like what they did to us."
- Scott Hartnell
