  GAME NOTES  I NHL.com Preview

1. RARE VISIT TO PHILLY
Today is just the fifth time in the last 10 years that the Edmonton Oilers visit Philadelphia… The Flyers are 1-3-0 in the previous four meetings in that span, but won the last meeting, a 4-1 win on Mar. 8, 2011, and have an overall record of 21-11-2-0 against the Oilers on home ice… The Flyers are just above the .500 mark against the Oilers all-time with a 29-28-8 record in 65 games… This is the Oilers 12th game on road out of 18 total games so far this season, while the Flyers play their 10th game on home ice out of 17 so far.

2. THE THREE NO. 1's
The Oilers come into town with the No. 1 overall pick in the three of the last four years in their lineup (Taylor Hall: 2010; Ryan Nugent-Hopkins: 2011; Nail Yakupov: 2012)… Hall has nine points (4g-5a) in 10 games so far this season, recording at least a point in seven of those games, while Nugent-Hopkins has 12 points (4g-8a) in 15 games and Yakupov has three points (1g-2a) in 15 games.

3. BRYZ, THAT & THE OTHER
Yesterday, the Oilers reached a verbal agreement on a one-year contract with former Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov - the agreement was reached pending the Oilers trade with the Calgary Flames - Edmonton acquired (C) Roman Horak and (G) Laurent Brossoit from Calgary in exchange for (D) Ladislav Smid and (G) Olivier Roy… This is the fourth meeting against a Western Conference team - the Flyers are 0-3-0 with each game being decided by one goal… The Oilers have won three of their four games when their opponent has scored the first goal, while the Flyers have all four of their victories when they have scored first… The two teams have met twice in the Stanley Cup Final (1985 & 1987) with the Oilers winning both times.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Vincent Lecavalier - (C) #40
Lecavalier leads the Flyers in goals (5) and is tied for the team lead in scoring with seven points… In his career against the Oilers, Lecavalier has five goal and five assists in 13 games… Lecavalier has been held scoreless the last three games, only three times in the last four seasons has he gone four straight games with no points (2010-11: 0, 2011-12: 2 & 2012-13: 1).

5. Player to watch OILERS: Jordan Eberle - (RW) #14
Eberle leads the Oilers with 10 assists and 13 points through 17 games… He has points in each of his last two games after going five straight without finding the scoresheet… Eberle also averages a point-per-game on the road, posting 11 points (3g-8a) in 11 road games so far… He has played just two games against the Flyers, recording a goal and an assist.

QUOTABLE
"It's unacceptable. We're a better team than this. We have to go and play the game and start winning them."
- Claude Giroux
