  GAME NOTES  I NHL.com Preview

1. COMING INTO TONIGHT
The Hurricanes come into the game on a five-game losing streak, three of which were road losses… They have been outscored 18-5 in that span… Tonight opens up a five-game homestand  for the Hurricanes, while the Flyers play their second straight game on the road, for just the second time all season… The Flyers come into tonight having won three of their last five games, including their last two road games… The Hurricanes have six players out of the lineup with injuries, including their top two goaltenders (Cam Ward & Anton Khudobin), as well as star forward Jeff Skinner and defenseman Joni Pitkanen.

2. WELCOME TO CAROLINA
Tonight is the first repeat opponent so far this year for the Flyers, who dropped the first meeting, 2-1 at Carolina on Oct. 6… Despite the last meeting, the Flyers have had success against the Hurricanes in Raleigh, having lost just two games in regulation at Carolina in the last seven seasons, going 11-2-1 in that span… Overall, the Flyers have earned a point in the standings in 24 of the last 27 meetings (21-3-3)… The Flyers goaltenders have had even greater success against the Hurricanes - Ray Emery is 5-0-0 with a 0.73 GAA and two shutouts in five career games, while Steve Mason is 5-1-0 with a 1.84 GAA in six games against the Hurricanes.

3. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER
The Flyers have killed off 23 of their last 25 times shorthanded… The Flyers posted a shutout in their last game (1-0 at NJD) - it was their first shut out since Mar. 18, 2013 (7-0 at NYI)… The last time the Flyers posted two consecutive shutouts was Mar. 8 vs FLA & Mar. 10 at TOR… The Flyers have never posted consecutive ROAD shutout victories in back-to-back games… The Hurricanes have not lost in regulation in one-goal games, going 4-0-3, while the Flyers have three of their four victories by a one-goal margin (3-4-0)… The Hurricanes have scored 23 of their 27 total goals this season in the second (13) and third periods (10).

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Brayden Schenn - (C) #10
Schenn is tied for the team lead in scoring with seven points (3g-4a) in 13 games… Schenn posted the Flyers lone-goal, which was the game-winner, in their 1-0 win at New Jersey… Only once has Schenn gone two straight games without a point this season… Against the Hurricanes, Schenn averages over a point-per-game with six points (2g-4a) in five career games.

5. Player to watch HURRICANES: Alexander Semin - (C) #28
Semin is tied for second on the team in goals (3) and tied for third in points (7)… He ranks second among all Hurricanes forwards in average time-on-ice per game (20:20)… Prior to the last two games, Semin had a four-game point streak with a goal and four assists in that span… Semin averages nearly a point per-game as a Hurricane, recording 16 goals and 35 assists for 51 points in 58 games… He has also had a lot of success against the Flyers, recording 21 points (9g-12a) in 26 career meetings against Philadelphia.

QUOTABLE
"Guys were making hard plays. That was the difference. They bounced back hard and now we have to keep it going and get on a streak."
- Vincent Lecavalier
