  GAME NOTES  I NHL.com Preview

1. BACK TO THE ICE… FOR BOTH
The Flyers return to action after having a full six days off of games - it is their longest break in game action in the schedule of the season, except for the NHL's break for the Winter Olympics in February… The Rangers have also had time off this past week, taking a four-day break in game action after dropping a 4-0 loss at New Jersey last Saturday - the four-days in between games is also their longest break during the season, except for the Winter Olympics.

2. AGAINST THE BLUESHIRTS
This is the first of four meetings on the year against the Rangers, with their next meeting not coming until Jan. 12 at Madison Square Garden - The Rangers also don't visit Philadelphia again until after the Winter Olympic break on Mar. 1… Last season, the Flyers went 2-3-0, winning two out of three games on home ice… Steve Mason won his only start (4-2 on Apr. 16)… Derek Stepan led the Blueshirts also with seven points (2g-5a) in five games.

3. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER
Rookie goaltender Cam Talbot will make his NHL debut tonight for the Rangers with Henrik Lundqvist having an undisclosed injury… The Flyers have killed off their last five penalties on home ice, and 15 of their last 16 times they have been shorthanded on home ice… Overall at home, the Flyers have allowed just two goals on the penalty kill and are operating at 88.9 percent (16-for-18)… This is the eighth of nine games that the Rangers have played on the road to begin the season because of renovations to Madison Square Garden - Their home opener is scheduled for Oct. 28… Rangers captain Ryan Callahan is out of the line-up with a broken thumb.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Jakub Voracek - (RW) #93
Voracek has had points in two of his last three games and three of his last five… He's had a good amount of success against the Rangers - leading the team in scoring with four goals and seven points in the five-game season series last season… Overall, Voracek averages nearly a point-per-game with seven goals and six assists for 13 points in 14 career games against the Rangers.

5. Player to watch RANGERS: Brad Richards - (C) #19
Richards leads the Rangers in scoring this season, averaging a point-per-game with four goals and three assists for seven points in as many games… Richards also has three points in his last three games, recording a goal and two assists in that span… Against the Flyers, Richards averages nearly a point-per-game with 10 goals and 30 assists for 40 points in 41 contests.

QUOTABLE
"I don't care how beat up they are. They're a good hockey team. They have good players. They're gonna compete and it's going to be a tough game… and our players better know that."
- Flyers head coach Craig Berube
