FIVE THINGS: Flyers at Washington Capitals
FIVE THINGS: Flyers at Washington Capitals: Flyers end preseason with a trip down to DC
Philadelphia Flyers (1-4-1)
at
Washington Capitals (3-0-3)
TV: NHL Network RADIO: 97.5 The Fanatic

1. IN THE END
Tonight is the Flyers preseason finale, the second half of games on back-to-back nights and third game in a four-day span… The Flyers will be looking for their first win in a preseason finale since the 2005 preseason, when they defeated the Capitals by a 7-6 score in a shootout… The Flyers will have a four-day break after tonight's game as they prepare for their season opening game vs. Toronto at the Wells Fargo Center on Oct. 2.

2. CAPITAL CITY
Tonight is also the second game in the Flyers preseason that they will be taking on the Capitals… In the first meeting, the Flyers dropped a 4-3 shootout at the Wells Fargo Center as the Flyers had their first ever "split squad" game with the team also playing at Toronto, which they won in a shootout, 3-2… Dating back to the 2005 preseason, the Flyers own a 4-3-2 record against the Capitals.

3. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER
The Flyers have scored 12 goals in the preseason, all coming from 12 different players… 21 players on the Flyers have recorded at least a point in the preseason… The Flyers rank second among all teams in the preseason in penalty-killing having allowed just one goal on 25 times shorthanded (96%)… The Washington Capitals training camp roster currently has 29 players (17-F, 10-D, 2G)… Of the first 68 NHL preseason games, 23 of those went past regulation and 16 of those to a shootout… In the last 20 NHL preseason games, only three have gone past regulation play and none have gone to a shootout.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Vincent Lecavalier - (C) #40
Lecavalier could appear in his first road game in a Flyers uniform tonight… So far through three preseason games, Lecavalier has a goal and an assist, his lone goal coming on the power play… He has also averaged over four minutes of power-play time-on-ice in his three preseason games.

5. Player to watch CAPITALS: Eric Fehr - (RW) #16
Fehr has been a force during the preseason for the Caps, posting three goals and five points in just three games… Fehr enters his ninth season in the NHL, mostly all with the Capitals except for a brief 35 game stint with the Winnipeg Jets in 2011-12… He was drafted by Washington in the 1st Round (18th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, and has  appeared in over 300 games in the NHL (306) recording 113 points (57g-56a).

QUOTABLE
"There's room for improvement offensively. There's room to clean up things defensively. We have another game tomorrow night and we'll work at it."
- Peter Laviolette
