FIVE THINGS: Flyers at New Jersey Devils
Philadelphia Flyers (1-3-1)
at
New Jersey Devils (3-2-0)
WEBCAST: PhiladelphiaFlyers.com Radio: 97.5 The Fanatic

1. CLOSE AS THEY COME
Dating back to the last five preseasons, the Flyers and Devils have faced off twice each year and split victories starting with the 2007 preseason… Including Tuesday's 2-1 loss to New Jersey, the last seven preseason meetings between the two clubs have been decided by one goal and dating back to 2007, nine of the 11 meetings have been one-goal games… Only two of the one-goal games went past regulation, with the Flyers winning both of those contests.

2. SPREADING THE SCORING AROUND
The Flyers have had all 11 of their goals scored by a different player, while the Devils' 12 goals scored in five preseason games, have come from 11 different players with only one player scoring twice (D - Marek Zidlicky)… The Flyers have eight players in the preseason who have multiple points, while the Devils have nine players with more than one point in the preseason.

3. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER
Steve Mason will get the start in net tonight and play the full game… The Flyers end their preseason with back-to-back away games on back-to-back nights as they travel to Washington on Friday to play the Capitals… Tonight is the Devils final preseason game and former Flyer Jaromir Jagr has yet to play a game in the preseason for New Jersey… The Devils reduced their training camp roster to 28 players on Wednesday.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Wayne Simmonds - (RW) #17
Simmonds returns to the ice for the first time this preseason since Sept. 17 vs. Rangers and a bout with the Flu… Simmonds enters his third season with the Flyers after recording 15 goals and 32 points in 45 games last year to rank third on the club in scoring behind Giroux & Voracek… Of his 15 goals, six came on the power play, which tied for second on the team… He was one of four Flyers to average over three minutes of power-play time-on-ice per game season season (Giroux, Voracek & Timonen).

5. Player to watch DEVILS: Marek Zidlicky - (D) #2
Zidlicky leads the Devils in scoring with two goals in two preseason games so far… He opened up the scoring against the Flyers in a 2-1 victory on Tuesday night… The 36-year-old defenseman enters his third season with the Devils, and ninth in the NHL, appearing in one Stanley Cup Final (Devils - 2012)... He has played in over 600 NHL games, posting 325 points (66g-259a).

QUOTABLE
"It's a team game. If we had individual success last year it didn't matter because we didn't succeed as a team and I know all the guys would give back the success just to have a winning team. That's what we're focused on here."
- Wayne Simmonds
