Flyers pick six at 2013 NHL Entry Draft

The Philadelphia Flyers selected six players in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft today at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

ROUND 1
11th (D) SAMUEL MORIN, 6-6, 202-lb, Rimouski, QMJHL

ROUND 2
41st (D) ROBERT HAGG, 6-2, 193-lb, MODO JR., SWE

ROUND 3
72nd (LW) TYRELL GOULBOURNE, 5-11, 195-lb, Kelowna, WHL

ROUND 5
132nd (D) TERRANCE AMOROSA, 6-1, 185-lb, Holderness High School

ROUND 6
162nd (G) MERRICK MADSEN, 6-4, 194-lb, Proctor High School

ROUND 7
192 (D) David Drake, 6-3, 153-lb, Des Moines, USHL


1st Round (11th overall) – Samuel Morin, D, Rimouski (QMJHL)


6-6, 206 lbs.

Born July 12, 1995 in St. Henri, Quebec (age 17)

Posted four goals and 12 assists in 16 points, along with 117 PIM, in 46 games for Rimouski during 2012-13… missed the final month of the regular season with an upper-body injury… returned to post a goal and six assists for seven points in six QMJHL playoff games… helped Team Canada to a gold medal at the 2013 Under-18 World Junior Championships in Sochi, Russia with two assists, six PIM and a plus-6 rating in seven tournament games.


2nd Round (41st overall) – Robert Hagg (HAIG), D, Modo (SEL/SHL)


6-2, 205 lbs

Born February 8, 1995 in Uppsala, Sweden (age 18)

Split the 2012-13 season between Modo’s teams in the Swedish Elite League and J20 SuperElit… was the captain of the SuperElit squad, posting 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points in 28 games… appeared in 27 games for Modo in the SEL, recording one assist… represented Sweden in both the U-18 and U-20 World Junior Championships, winning a silver medal with the U-20 team… ranked eighth among European skaters by NHL Central Scouting.


3rd round (72nd overall) – Tyrell Goulbourne, C, Kelowna (WHL)


5-11, 195 lbs

Born January 26, 1994 in Edmonton, Alberta (age 19)

Completed his fourth season with Kelowna in 2012-13, recording 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points in 64 games, along with 127 PIM… 1G, 2A in 11 playoff games… recorded 19 fights in 2012-13… 6-8-14 in 63 games in 2011-12, with 109 PIM (17 fights).


5th Round (132nd overall) – Terrance Amorosa, D, Holderness (NH) High School


6-1, 185 lbs

Born November 13, 1994 in Kirkland, Quebec (age 18)

Scouts see him as a big defenseman with good feet…. A bit of a raw player… seeing interest from several colleges.


6th Round (162nd overall) – Merrick Madsen, G, Proctor Academy (NH)


6-4, 194 lbs

Born August 22, 1995 in Preston, Idaho (age 17)

Posted a 3.20 GAA and .908 sv% in 20 games for Proctor in 2012-13… drafted by Des Moines in 2013 USHL Draft… will play for Des Moines in 2013-14… is expected to attend/play for Harvard University beginning in 2014-15… grew up in Acton, California.


7th Round (192nd overall) – David Drake, D, Des Moines (USHL)


6-4, 170 lbs

Born January 7, 1995 in Naperville, Illinois (age 18)

12 GP, 1-0-1 with Des Moines (USHL) in 2012-13… joined Des Moines in February after being called up from the Chicago Fury (Tier I Midget)… posted two goals and four assists for six points in 40 games for the Fury prior to the call-up, along with 16 PIM.
