Flyers acquire Steve Mason from Columbus; Adam Hall from Tampa Bay
The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have acquired 6-4, 217-lb goaltender Steve Mason from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for goaltender Michael Leighton and a third-round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, and also claimed 6-3, 213-lb C Adam Hall off waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.

Mason, 24 (5/29/88), has posted a 3-6-1 record in 13 games for Columbus this season, recording a 2.95 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage. In 232 games over five seasons with the Blue Jackets, Mason has a record of 96-99-27 with a 2.90 GAA, .903 save percentage and 19 shutouts. He will wear #35 for the Flyers.
Leighton, 31, appeared in one game for the Flyers this season and 29 over the past three seasons, compiling a 17-6-3 record.
In conjunction with the trade, the Flyers recalled G Cal Heeter from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, to serve as backup to Ilya Bryzgalov for tonight’s game vs. the Montreal Canadiens. Heeter will wear #35 for tonight only.
Hall, 33 (8/12/1980), has appeared in a total of 26 games for Tampa Bay and Carolina this season. He was claimed off waivers by Carolina from Tampa Bay on March 16 and played six games for the Hurricanes before being reacquired by Tampa Bay in a trade yesterday. Hall has four assists in those 26 games this season. He brings a 54.9 faceoff percentage to the Flyers and has averaged just under two minutes per game in shorthanded time-on-ice. He will wear #18.
In 591 career NHL games with Nashville, the NY Rangers, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Carolina, Hall has 65 goals and 82 assists for 147 points along with 259 PIM.
