Flyers sign (D) Kurtis Foster

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have agreed to contract terms with 6-5, 225-lb free agent defenseman Kurtis Foster, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.

Foster will wear uniform No. 3 at Flyers Training Camp.

Foster, 31 (11/24/1981), is entering his 11th professional season. He split time in the 2011-12 season with Anaheim, Minnesota and New Jersey, appearing in a total of 51 games with four goals and 10 assists for 14 points, while averaging 15:54 of ice time.

Foster was drafted by Calgary in the 2nd round (40th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, but had his rights traded to Atlanta in a 2001 deal. He made his NHL debut with the Thrashers on March 31, 2003 at the New York Rangers.

Foster signed with the Minnesota Wild as a free agent following the 2004-05 NHL lockout and spent the next four seasons with the club. He then made stops in Tampa Bay in 2009-10 and Edmonton in 2010-11 before being traded to Anaheim prior to last season.

The Flyers will open their shortened training camp today at The Virtua Center Flyers Skate Zone, with the first on-ice session taking place at 11 a.m. Practices will continue throughout the week, including an open-to-the-public practice at the Wells Fargo Center at 6pm on Thursday, January 17.

Single-game tickets for all 24 Flyers regular season home games will go on sale on Tuesday, January 15 at 10 a.m. Tickets will be available via ComcastTIX on line at ComcastTIX.com, by phone at 1-800-298-4200 or in person at Wells Fargo Center box office.

It’s time! The highly anticipated 2012-13 Flyers season is now underway. For the latest ticket information including single games, full or partial packages, call 215-218-PUCK (7825) or visit PhiladelphiaFlyers.com.
