Game Preview: Phantoms vs Bridgeport Sound Tigers

1. HAPPY NEW YEAR
Since moving to Adirondack, the Phantoms are 2-1-0-0 in their annual New Year's Eve game, winning both times past regulation play… After riding a three-game winning streak, the Phantoms have dropped two straight games, and with the exception of an empty-netter, both would have been decided by one goal… Bridgeport comes in on a hot streak, winning three in-a-row and out-scoring it's opponent by a 12 to 3 margin, while also winning five of their last seven games.

2. PHANTOMS vs. SOUND TIGERS
Today is the third of six meetings on the season between Adirondack and Bridgeport… So far, the Phantoms are a perfect 2-0-0-0 and have outscored the Sound Tigers by an 8 to 3 margin… In their last visit to the Glens Falls Civic Center, the Phantoms went 3-for-7 on the power play to post a 5-1 victory, while their most recent victory came in a 3-2 win in which the Phantoms got out to a 3-0 lead before Bridgeport stormed back.

3. PK POWER FOR PHANTOMS
The Phantoms have allowed just one power-play goal in the month of December, killing off 27 of 28 times shorthanded… They own the ninth best penalty kill in the AHL, operating at 84.9 percent while killing off 129-of-152 advantages… Their percentages increase on home-ice, operating at nearly 90 percent (88.9), allowing just nine goals on 81 opportunities.

4. Player to watch PHANTOMS: Sean Couturier
Couturier has two goals and five points in just two games against Bridgeport this season… He leads the Phantoms in scoring in the month of December with 10 points (2G-8A) in 11 games and ranks second on the team overall in scoring with 26 points (8G-18A) in 28 games.
 
5. Player to watch SOUND TIGERS: John Persson
Persson has a hot hand as of late for Bridgeport, recording points in six of his last seven games, which included a six-game point streak where he had three goals and six points… He ranks third on the team in goals (10) and fifth overall in points (17) in 31 games so far this season… The Islanders fifth round pick (125th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft is in his first full season of pro hockey after playing 12 games with the Sound Tigers, scoring four goals and eight points, at the end of his season in the WHL with Red Deer.
