On this date in 1988, Rick Tocchet recorded his fifth career hat trick during the Flyers’ 7-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.
During the 1988-89 season, Tocchet led the Flyers in scoring with 31 goals. He would go on to lead the Flyers squad in scoring for the next two seasons, posting 37 goals in 1989-90, and 40 in 1990-91. In his 11 seasons with the Flyers, Tocchet recorded 232 goals and 276 assists for 508 points. He is the Flyers all-time leader in penalty minutes with 1,817.
