Holmstrom to undergo surgery

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren issued the following injury update regarding Phantoms forward Ben Holmstrom on Thursday:
"Ben will have right knee surgery at Methodist Hospital on Thursday, December 20. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Peter DeLuca."
Holmstrom, 25, sustained the injury during the Phantoms' 4-3 shootout victory over the Syracuse Crunch on Dec. 8.
He will be out indefinitely.
The Phantoms captain has eight points (2G-6A) and 29 penalty minutes to go along with a plus-minus rating of +3 in 22 games this season, his fourth, with the Flyers' AHL affiliate.
