2001
On this date in 2001, The Flyers “unretired” their orange road jersey for their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the First Union Center and raised $67,947 through the online jersey auction.
2009
The Flyers former home, the Spectrum, officially closes following its last public event, the Pearl Jam Concert. The Spectrum originally opened its doors in 1967.
The stadium was home to the Flyers along with the 76ers. It held approximately 18,000 people and was Philadelphia’s first modern indoor sports arena.
