Game Preview: Phantoms at IceCaps

Five things you need to know about Adirondack at St. John's

The Phantoms play the IceCaps for first time in their history. Adirondack is also on their first road trip of the season, a four-game slate in which they face off against the IceCaps in the first of back-to-back games in St. John's on consecutive nights. Fans can listen to the game from Phantoms radio play-by-play voice Bob Rotruck (below) at 6 p.m. ET

2. ABOUT ST. JOHN'S
The St. John's IceCaps are in their second season in the AHL and are the affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets. The IceCaps come into this season as the reigning Atlantic Division Champions after posting a 43-25-5-3 record and advanced to the Eastern Conference Final of the Calder Cup Playoffs, before losing to eventual champion, Norfolk Admirals.

3. THIRD PERIOD SCORING
The Phantoms have posted three of their six goals this season in the third period, which is tied for third in the AHL, while leading all teams in the AHL in third period shots (32).

4. Player to watch PHANTOMS: Matt Ford
Ford is playing on the same line with Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier, but has failed to register a point in his first two games this season. Ford has never gone more than two games without a point since being traded to the Phantoms on Feb. 2 last season. He recorded 19 goals and 12 assists for 31 points in the 31 games he played since joining Adirondack in 2011-12.

5. Player to watch ICECAPS: Alexander Burmistrov
Burmistrov comes to the IceCaps after spending the last two seasons in the NHL, recording a combined 48 points (19G-29A) in 150 games… The 6-1, 180 pound center recorded two assists in St. John's first two games this season.
