CBA negotiations to resume Friday
Negotiations toward establishing a new Collective Bargaining Agreement between the National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players\' Association are scheduled to resume Friday in New York.

Negotiations toward establishing a new Collective Bargaining Agreement between the National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players' Association are scheduled to resume Friday in New York.

The League and the Union also have blocked out Saturday and Sunday for potential sessions, according to Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly.

"We have agreed on an agenda of topics that we think can lead to productive discussions and agreement, and we hope that it will be constructive to the overall process," Daly said earlier this week in acknowledging the Friday session. "We're 100 percent focused on not missing any regular-season games and, hopefully, we can achieve that objective."

The NHL locked out the players Sept. 16, following the expiration of the previous CBA.

The League and the Union have remained in contact since the lockout began, according to Daly. The Deputy Commissioner met with NHLPA Special Counsel Steve Fehr on Monday in Toronto to finalize the players' share of hockey-related revenue for the 2011-12 season.

The League announced Thursday the remainder of the preseason schedule was cancelled.

Opening night for the 2012-13 regular season is scheduled for Oct. 11.
