2012-13 Schedule Released
The Philadelphia Flyers, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, on Thursday unveiled their regular season schedule for the 2012-13 season.  The Flyers will open their 46th NHL season at home on Thursday, October 11 when they host the Boston Bruins at the Wells Fargo Center.  The 82-game itinerary also concludes in Philadelphia this season with a visit from the New York Rangers on Saturday, April 13.

"We're anxious to get back on the ice and begin preparing for the start of the 2012-13 season,” said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. "We know our fans are just as excited."

Once again this season, the Flyers will play in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference with the New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins.  The Flyers will take on each of their division rivals six times – three at home and three on the road.  They will play the teams from the Northeast Division (Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres, Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs) and Southeast Division (Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals and Winnipeg Jets) a total of four times each, twice at home and twice on the road, for a total of 64 games within the Eastern Conference.

The remaining 18 games will come against Western Conference opponents.  The Flyers will play home-and-home series this season against three Western Conference foes – the Chicago Blackhawks, the Minnesota Wild and the San Jose Sharks.  Anaheim, Calgary, Colorado, Dallas, Detroit and Edmonton will all visit the Wells Fargo Center this season, and the Flyers will pay one-way visits to Columbus, Los Angeles, Nashville, Phoenix, St. Louis and Vancouver.

The home slate features several big games following the October 11 home opener.  The club’s 2012 playoff foes will be in early, with the Penguins visiting the second week of the season on October 18 and the Devils coming in on November 1.  The annual Black Friday matinee will be on Friday, November 23 against the Winnipeg Jets and will wrap up a stretch of eight home games during the month of November.  The Rangers pay their first visit on January 12.  The Flyers settle in for a five-game homestand from Feb. 21 – March 1 and will wrap the season up with a three-game homestand from April 9-13.

The Flyers will open the road portion of their schedule on Saturday, October 13 when they visit the New York Islanders.  The Flyers have been road warriors the last two years, setting a franchise record with 25 road wins in 2010-11 and matching that record last season.  They’ll need that travel tenacity through a few long stretches, one of which is an eight-game span away from the Wells Fargo Center from Dec. 21 through Jan. 6 that includes a six-game Western Conference trip that starts in Nashville on Dec. 27 and ends in Vancouver on Jan. 6, a journey that will span approximately 7,300 miles round-trip over 13 days (including travel days).  The slate also includes a five-game trip after Thanksgiving, a five-game trip in February, a four-game trip in March and a three-game voyage through Canada in early April.
