THE HISTORY

* The Flyers and Devils will meet for the fifth time in their history (excluding a preliminary round in 1978 when they were the Colorado Rockies). They have also won their last two playoff meetings with the Devils with their last meeting coming in the 2010 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal in which the Flyers won 4 games to 1 en route to the Stanley Cup Final.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS
#28 - Claude Giroux
Through the first round of the playoffs Claude Giroux leads the NHL in scoring with 14 points and is tied for the NHL lead with six goals in six games… He currently has a five-game point streak, recording multiple points in four out of those five games.

Giroux also ranked third on the team and led all Flyers forwards in ice-time during the first round, averaging 21:39 per-game.

In the season series against the Devils, Giroux led the Flyers with four goals and seven points through six games.

#19 - Scott Hartnell
After going scoreless in the first four games, Giroux's line mate started to heat up towards the end of the Penguins series… He recorded goals in Games Five and Six… He ended up with five points (2G-3A) in the series.

#93 - Jakub Voracek
Voracek was the hero in Game One against the Penguins, recording the game-winner in overtime… Beyond that Voracek went through just his second-ever postseason series with impressive numbers, posting two goals and five assists for seven points in the six-game series.

#48 - Danny Briere & #10 - Brayden Schenn
Danny Briere posted five goals and eight points in the series against the Penguins, bringing his career playoff point total OVER a point per game with 104 points (47G-57A) in 103 games… In the series, Briere has recorded at least a point in five of the six games.

Schenn entered his first career playoff series and made an instant impact… He averaged a point-per-game with six points (2G-4A) with two multi-point games.

DEVILS
#17 - Ilya Kovalchuk
Ilya Kovalchuk was the Devils leading scorer with 37 goals and 83 points during the regular season and led New Jersey against the Flyers in the season series with eight points (2G-6A) in six games… In the playoffs thus far, Kovalchuk has three goals and five points.

#26 - Patrik Elias
The Devils mainstay for 16 NHL seasons has a total of 119 points (42G-77A) in 145 career Stanley Cup Playoff games… He led the Devils with 52 assists during the regular season and ranked second on the team with 78 points in 81 games.

#19 - Travis Zajac
Zajac was limited to just 15 regular season games with the Devils, but exploded to lead New Jersey in the first round with six points (3G-3A) in their first round series against Florida. His six points are already a career high in points for a single post-season.

#14 - Adam Henrique
Henrique ranked third in the NHL among all rookies with 51 points (16G-35A) in 74 games… In the playoffs, Henrique was the hero of their Game Seven victory over the Panthers by scoring two goals, including the game-winner in double overtime to give the Devils the series win.

THE GOALTENDING

PHILADELPHIA FLYERS
#30 - Ilya Bryzgalov
The most successful player on either of the teams during the regular season was Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov. He won all three starts against the Devils in the regular season, and in four overall appearances, he allowed just one goal on 76 shots, posting a 0.29 goals-against average and .987 save percentage, which included two shutouts. In his entire career against the Devils, Bryzgalov has just one loss, going 4-1-0 with a 1.28 GAA and .920 save percentage including two shutouts.

NEW JERSEY DEVILS
#30 - Martin Brodeur
The future Hall-of-Fame goaltender for the Devils posted a 2.06 goals-against-average and .922 save percentage, including one shutout, which broke the NHL record for most career shutouts in the NHL playoffs (24), in his series win over the Panthers. He ranks second all-time in playoff history with 103 playoff victories.
